How old is elderly? - anyone older than me :rotfl:0

I have been thinking about this point. It might be when you start to need a lot of help with basic things.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

That would be 10 years older than I am at any given time.
DH recently had his 75th birthday. He says he has a 25-year old brain in a 75-year old body. This of course does cause him problems sometimes e.g. when his brain tells his body to do something and it doesn't do as asked.
I am never going to believe in myself as 'elderly'. It varies so much from person to person.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -

I've also been giving it some thought. We define ourselves to a degree, but we are also defined by others. The others vastly outnumber the 'me'.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Perception of age is highly subjective and variable. My mother was 'elderly' at 60, She's now in her late 70's, going on 100.
I intend not to be elderly for a very long time yet!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
I know I am getting on a bit but I don't honestly feel a lot different than I did when I was 17.
I can't dance the night away anymore ,but that's down to my osteo-arthritis not my willingness
I sometime feels sad that I have outlived folk younger than me, and miss them quite a lot.
I am on a Uni course with lots of folk whom I'm old enough to be their granny but they don't treat me any different than normal, I think age is an attitude or as my beloved DGS Danny would say 'Its a state of mind Granny'.I have a friend whom I have know for 45 years, and she was 'old' when she was 25.She thought old,she dressed old and now she is old she is in her element .
I am certainly not mutton dressed as lamb. I dress to be comfortable and insist on having 'happy feet' and a comfy bed as if I'm not in one, then I'm in the other. But I love to learn new things and meet new people aand explore this wonderful world that we live in I take great interest in everything around me and could honestly do with another 12 hours in my day to do all the things I want to do.I don't know perhaps one day I will grow up and grow old but not for a few years more BTW I'm 67 coming up to 68 so really only a spring chicken ,or is that an old boiler0 -

I forget I am retired and getting a pension and have a bus pass.
you might be middle aged if you were going to live for a lot longer than the rest of us!
my OH's dad takes exception to the fact that I pointed out that he is a pensioner. I ask him if he receives a pension, he says yes - case in point! I don't call him a old codger, but the term 'pensioner' is accurate.0 -
Haven't heard from you for a while, Jackie. Glad to hear that your OA is not holding you back from important things.
On original topic, I remember arguing with my dad, as he would never lock the door. He would say "If anyone comes in here they'll get this! " (brandishing fist).
He still thought he was a big tough miner, when he had become thin and frail. Sad.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

As the average life span seems to be 70-80 that makes middle aged 35-40.
Elderly is anything over 50.0
