    Hi

How do you know if you have been mis-sold PPI?

I had a Lloyds loan a few years ago with payment protection, but have no idea whether this was mis-sold to me.

    Surveys: £6.60/£40.00
  • Were you told that you could get the product anywhere else? Were you self-employed at the time? theres lots of reasons.

I've had a letter off the FOS today to say that barclays admit to mis-selling me ppi and that I can have my money back. I've got to sign an acceptance form and send it back (which I'm going to do pretty quickly!) Don't know how much I'll get back as the account was closed some years ago but whatever they owe me they'll have to pay interest on so I'm hoping for at least £150. WayHay.

Nothing else to report other than been shopping to Asdas and it's come to more than I planned for - why is it always the same?

Nothing left over for Shapely :(

Nope wasn't told I could get the product elsewhere, but I imagine they did ask me if I wanted protection on the loan. Think I may have actually taken it out on line, but can't really remember.

  • Give it a go you've got nothing to lose. Just send a letter stating that you believe you were mis-sold the ppi and that at no time were you told that the product was available elsewhere and that it was optional. They can only write back and say no.

Do you know if there is a template on here somewhere I can use?

Do I have to know how much the loan was for and when I took it out as I don't have a Scooby Doo? How bad is that!

  • Yes there are template letters on here, have a look on the re-claim bank charges ppi & more thread. You don;t have to know how much it was for but it would make it easier for the creditor to chase if you have the account number of the loan or credit card.

  • Have just transferred £18 from Paypal into my current account. I really need to pay something of shapely before I completely lose heart. Once the money goes into the bank I'll transfer it over. I need to see the total going down!

Thanks for your help, will look into it.

I did have a phone call from a company saying they could help reclaim money for me, how did they even know I once had this loan - I said no thanks as I presume they are dodgy and only out for themselves?

  • Never, ever go to a company they take a % of whatever you claim back. If there's money to be reclaimed you can do it yourself, follow the template letters on this site and if your successful you'll get the full amount back. Good luck and let us know how you get on. x

  • Have just paid in £15 worth of pennies into my Halifax account and I'm going to transfer it into the Shapely account. Just off to update my signature :)
