Keep up with the swimming its good for the mind even when you are tired, it always helps me deal with life when im running and focusing on something else.

    Hi William,

and thanks - learned something today and subscribed.

I though you might enjoy this one and it comes form a children's movie: 'Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mistery but today is a gift. That is why we call it the present.' What I am trying to say is, please give yourself a break and a big pat on the back. Being clean for 50+ days is a great achievement.

  • Good morning people: Or rather just morning. Cant get to the pool this morning, have to go to the school with the kids straight after work (boo hiss). I sat down last night and worked out that I had £25 left to last me the month. Just as I started to resign myself to that fact, I then realised I had failed to factor in my back charges for the overdraft. Talk about an kick in the teeth. I have £100 put aside for the MBNA card, which is double the minimum payment (and the card is 0%) but I don't really want to cut down the payment. Feel like crap. Just as I thought I had it sussed. Thinking about it, I can't even afford to go swimming now even if I wanted to!

God, I hope someone buys some of my old stuff on ebay. Definately need a boost. Does anyone know if you can sell your body to science before you die?

Off home people, need a stiff drink, and a wall to bang my head against.
  • Not a good few days. Just when you think its getting sorted, you get hit with another smack in the face.
Today, I had to go to the dentist to get the second stage of the root canal work done. I know it needed doing, but is so bloody expensive. The 3 part treatment has cost me nearly £400. Have paid all but £100 of it, and had no choice but to pay it on the card. This has left me almost up to my limit on the card. My only saving grace is that I will get almost half the money back from HSA, which will bring the card down, but I still have to pay the £100 and that will go on the card too.
Have just applied for a Santander card to transfer the balance over so its on a 0% for 15 months. Ever hopeful, though don’t see why I shouldn’t, as my credit rating is good. Never missed a payment always pay at least the minimum.
Been a long few days. Very little sleep and too much stress all round. Pray that I get the card. Is important to get the balance transfers and 0%. Still clean. Know I can’t afford to slip up now. Because of the schedule I had yesterday, had to spend a fiver for food at work, which again annoyed the hell out of me. Finished work Friday morning at 7am home and in bed for 9am. Was up again at midday, an 1 and a half hours travelling to my dentist appointment at 3pm (only dentist I trust) . Then back home, another 2 hours, taking me to about 6ish, then kids to bed and then off to work. Just need a boost. Feeling the strain and pressure of having diddly squat and not being able to do anything about it. Consoling myself with the fact I have overtime to come next month, a small bonus and my pay rise. Doesn't help me now though. Need a hug. No, need a large scotch and a few days catch-up sleep.
Too tired to write any more. Still clean since 24th February 2010. Thanks for reading.

Hi in the last month i have given myself £15 a week for tea, the odd treat.

Before i used to waste a fortune on lunches, teas, vending machines, magazines that i did not ever read. Firewalker is right buying snacks like cereal bars from the supermarket will save you a fortune.

I am amazed for three weeks i have had some of these pounds left over to put in my savings tin too!!!!

For me that is unbelievable. I was Miss Shopaholic. Now i am Miss MSE!!!!

Good luck, keep up the hard work.

    :j

I can empathise with the lunches, vending machines line. Vending machines at work are the devils tool, if I take money into work with me it is all gone by the end of the day, not least because they put the machine in the only place you can make coffee.

I may take some superglue and a 2p coin in and seal up the coin slot :D

Hello well done WilliamD and also BLT,

Just think how brilliantly you are doing. I work till late on Thursdays and always spend a fortune on poop at the vending machine. Mind you Cr*nchie's and M*ltesers are fantastic. I must remember not to go to the vending machine even if i am miserable at work. I was good for 3 weeks and learnt my lesson this week when i fell off the wagon! Still it was only £6.00!

  • Today I didnt gamble (I slept most of the day and I am working all night)! Quick question: If I spend money on swimming, (which go towards me trying to lose weight and decrease my waistline) does that mean it can't be classed and a "No Spend Day?"
  • Ok, breaktime at work. The usual Sunday night mania here. Spent two days looking at the figures, and am a little scared. I now work out that I have a few quid over and I don't where its come from. Going to try not spend it and hopefully, if needed with keep it in reserve. Will use Is not much, about £60 but god is it welcome. Sent off the receipts for the dental work to HSA today. They total £300+ so whatever I get back from that will go to the cards. Still have £100 to find but will manage. Still get panicky when I see the totals written down. Actually just writing about it makes my stomach tighten and feel a little sick.
Hope Santander approve me, and can get most (if not all) onto a 0%. Have never been refused up to now (famous last words). will be glad when I get my pay rise figures so I can adjust my budget properly for the next 12 months. Get moments where I just want it all to go away. I know its all my fault, I know that I screwed up and time is not on my side. Really want to hear from people that have come out the other side. That have cleared the debt, and moved on.

Have added to my signature my weight & inch lose figures. This is a real toughy for me. Been slightly overweight for a while and love the chocolate a little too much. Also, working shifts you tend to graze and pick rather than eat at regular times. Also finding time to exercise is a real !!!!!! too. Swimming tomorrow straight after work. Breaktime nearly over, thanks for listening, thanks for your support

    William,

spending on swimming probably will count as spending - so no NSD. Having said that, I have turned out to be hopeless at NSD but don't spend much. I find the weekly spend (for personal stuff) works much better for me.

Also, saving and paying debts is great but you have to keep healthy. So, I think you should go swimming.

It is spending but i have heard people refer to LSDs. No, not the drug! But a low spend day. That is fine and it releases endorphins which make you feel better plus you are getting fit and healthy.

    well done.
