Well, I have just received a phone call, and been offered ov3ertime tomorrow! 12 hours, and boy, will that come in handy. Thank you icelandic volcano, for stranding my colleague in Barcelona! I am sure he will as dissapointed as me!
In all seriousness, this a real godsend.0 -
On a beautiful day like this, I have to retire to my bed, to get some sleep as I have a 12 hour night shift coming up.
Watched the GP and thought Button and Hamilton drove storming races. Kids are at church (an old fashion notion but they enjoy it).
Wife still moody. Best leave her to it for a while. More later.0 -
Well done, all this will be worth it. At least you watched the GP.

Good afternoon everyone. Quiet few days, slept most of monday, till about 2pm, hen took kids into town. Managed to get a some cheap compost & seeds for the kids to grow our own. Also managed to get free seed trays from the garden centre. Had fun planting them out & putting them in the green house. Had an early night and slept through until 6 this morning (used some avon sleep balm and seemed to work)!
Kids all fratious this morning, fighting amongst themselves. Glad they are back to school.
Been a good morning though. Went swimming with the wife at 12. For someone who couldnt swim 6 weeks ago, I have trouble matching her! Managed 20 lengths, before I had had enough, but she did 25! Going to add weight loss and getting fitter to the things must do! Today I have not and will not gamble. Going to pick up the kids in a minute and then play the wii for an hour. Aim is to lose least a stone before july holiday.
More later. Thanks for reading.0 -
Just escaped from work. You have done a lot. Be proud of yourself. Be happy.

Am at work, have 7 straight nights ahead of me.
Just received my payslip and am ready for the next 4 weeks. This month, after paying out everything, including all bills, food etc, I have just under £60 for myself. That’s £15 per week. A sobering thought. Things should (he says, ever the optimist) get a little better after next month as my pay rise should be in from next months salary. I hope the situation gets better at work with regard to overtime. Really could do with doing even a few hours a month. 8 would be great, 16 would be amazing, but can’t rely on anything. Either way, I leave myself almost “pot-less” each month. Was hoping to leave myself about £25 a week to live on. Here’s a question for you all:
What is a good amount to leave yourself, on a weekly basis, after everything is paid out?
Feel a little down, but I have only myself to blame for this predicament and need to get the totals on the cards down as soon as possible.
On the brighter side, we have received confirmation that the holiday flights are booked to Florence, and should receive a more info from the company arranging the cookery course within the week.
OK, plans for the coming month.
1. STAY CLEAN
2. 14 NSD’s minimum, between 21/4 & 19/5 (next payday).
3. Ebay, Ebay, Ebay!
4. Watch the diet, exercise, and lose weight (currently 13 stone 7Ib)
5. Swim at least once a week.
6. Dig over the planting area in the garden ready for all the seeds.
7. Update signature!
Ok, break over, time for work. To those following this thread, thanks for your encouragement. I think this month will be a real test regarding my spending.
Onward people, once more unto the breach dear friends...etc, etc, etc!!!!!0 -
William,
your diary is one of the few I read and search for (not sufficiently technically advanced to subscribe). You seem to be doing really well - particualrly the gambling. But given that gambling is an adiction if you redirect the force of it to being DF - what a force this would be. And you appear to be doing it.
What do you mean £15 after you have paid for everything? Is this the £15 that you spend on little things for yourself (newspaper, treats etc.). If yes £15 should be OK if you managed to take homa made food to work.

Hi in the last month i have given myself £15 a week for tea, the odd treat.
Before i used to waste a fortune on lunches, teas, vending machines, magazines that i did not ever read. Firewalker is right buying snacks like cereal bars from the supermarket will save you a fortune.
I am amazed for three weeks i have had some of these pounds left over to put in my savings tin too!!!!
For me that is unbelievable. I was Miss Shopaholic. Now i am Miss MSE!!!!
Good luck, keep up the hard work.

Hi all,
Bad day, 4 hours disturbed sleep and an eight hour night shift to come. Money going to be tighter that I originally expected as have had a school bill come in. Will manage, but will be even tougher than I originally accounted for. Need to sell some stuff on ebay pronto! The £15 pound question is now irrelivant but was intended to include bus fares, swimming, treats etc and any incidentals that turn up. Despite my tiredness, thinking about going swimming straight after work tomorrow morning (7.30pm).
Will add more later when I get a break at work. 50+ days clean. WOW.
