Love the idea of the who's who book, especially as they are all going to be on holiday with each other (so spending more time together than a traditional wedding party). How exciting about it only being a week away! I got a call today to tell me to pick up my engagement ring - don't know if that means the wedding band is finished too and they forgot to say, or whether they just want me to collect the engagement ring. A bit freaked out that I may have to pay the balance for the wedding band tomorrow, as Moon hasn't given me his share yet.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Have you got your ring now SM? Hope you didn't get a big bill when you got to the shop!

The vouchers arrived on Friday so we picked up my wedding ring on Saturday since Rugby was called off due to a frozen pitch and I needed to get OH out of the house! I'm glad it was called off because the last time OH played against the team they were scheduled to play he got a knee in the face and now has a(nother) scar above his eyebrow! Don't want to be marrying him with a black eye! My ring is lovely and it fits well, I don't think I'll have to have it resized which is good! OH is dropping my engagement ring into the local jewellers to be sent off for replating to make it all shiny again so it doesn't look rubbish next to my wedding band; I feel really weird not wearing it! I'm wearing another ring but I know it's not the right one!

We got a new shirt and tie for OH to wear on Friday so we're all ready to go for the registry office! Can't believe it's this week! My Mum made me laugh when I spoke to her last night about it; because we're planning to walk from the registry office to the restaurant, which is a bit of a trek, she's worried about wearing her heels so she's going to bring flat shoes for the walking bit and keep them in a fancy gift bag so it looks like she's just carrying around a present! She's a funny thing!

Talking about a 'trek', OH's best man is a bit of a Trekkie (as is OH, Star Trek jokes are the basis of their friendship!) so we're going to get him something Star Trek related for him as a thank you present, we were discussing it in the jewellers as we were waiting for them to wrap up the ring and work out our vouchers and I think they thought we were joking! OH has also got his heart set on something called a Mason Drinking Jar for his Ring Bearer (I don't really get it but it's some kind of in-joke I think!) but I can't find any UK sites selling them!

I'm beside myself with something! Can't decide if it's excitement or fear!

I was talking to OH about it on Saturday night because he's just really looking forward to being married and I asked why he's not worried at all and he said, 'I've never looked at it in terms of being something scary, I always knew I'd get married, I want to have a wife and babies so this is just the next step in my life and I'm looking forward to it, why be scared? I'm old now anyway... I even found a flat cap I want to go with my dream Barbour jacket, I'm just thankful you find that funny and still want me marry me!' He's only 27! :rotfl:

    Hi Birdie,

Went to pick up my ring - it was just my engagement ring, but it looks lovely as they've replated it to make it match the wedding band - I'd forgotten how sparkly it had looked when I first got it, as I've been wearing it for 7 years! I know what you mean about not wearing it though - I wore my original wedding band (one I bought but it is the wrong metal and didn't sit with my engagement ring), but like you, still felt uncomfortable as I knew it wasn't the right one. The wedding band should be ready on Wednesday, so looking forward to trying them both together. I'll have to pay the balance then too, so hopefully Moon will give me his share soon.

Can't believe how quickly the time is going. Seems like ages ago that we were first discussing our plans of Caribbean weddings. I'll be thinking of you on Friday.

BTW I'm 27 too, but Moon is much older than me, so I guess I've always felt older than my actual age too.

I sent out the first lot of wedding invites yesterday (had spent the whole day making them, and still have a few to make). We've had one RSVP already on the spot, and unfortunately it was a no as they will probably be away.

Well today's the day, we're getting married officially at 11.30!!! Feel really cool about it actually, although OH has man flu so is feeling very sorry for himself poor thing. I don't want to kiss him and catch his germs! :rotfl:

Some of the girls from work have given me a garter; not sure if they know about today, guessed about it, or if they just wanted to get their present in first before next week when (I hope!) I'll be getting a collective present from everyone, but I'll be wearing it for a laugh today!

Hope you had a lovely wedding Birdie - I was thinking of you, but had to rush to work this morning so didn't have time to post. Ooh how exciting! You're now a MRS!:T:beer:bee528d03.gif873db80f2.giff_bubbly.gifemoticon-congratulations.gif

Yesterday was fantastic :) When we got there my Mum surprised me with a little bouquet of roses and she got a matching boutonniere for OH so we looked like a 'real' bride and groom! She also brought along a brooch that had been her Nana's so I'd have something old to wear! The registrar was lovely and the cermony was short and sweet but just what we wanted. It all felt so bizarre though! Think it'll take a while to sink in, we kept calling each other 'Husband' and 'Wife' but it doesn't feel normal yet! Think it might after the other wedding! :rotfl:

Lunch turned into a 7 hour session, we got to the restaurant for about 11.30, had 2 bottles of champagne and some nibbles, then ate our meal a couple of hours later... then about 5 hours, 6 bottles of wine and a few brandies later we left! Well, more like staggered out! Our parents got on really well and we all had such a lovely day, we can't wait to catch that plane next week to have 2 weeks together!

I can't believe that in a week we'll be on the plane! I still don't feel 100% ready to go, lots of lists to write and washing to do, best get on with it I suppose!
