I've ordered my party invites, got them from Vistaprint as they had a nice bright palm tree design. Hopefully they'll be here by the end of next week so we can go down to the club and start handing them out on Saturday. OH showed me his guest list last night and it's huge, he's invited the majority of the rugby club, which is a lot of people considering there are enough players there for 3 teams and subs (and their wives!)! My list is tiny in comparison to his! Not too sure about inviting work people, there are some people I want to invite but others I really don't want to, but not sure how to go about doing it!
OH was pricing up buffets too and decided that for the price of a lowest of the range finger buffet from a local caterer we might as well make a big vat of chilli as it'll work out cheaper and be much nicer... but I've got no idea how to make chilli for 100+ people! I struggle making enough for 10! How much mince would that be?! It's a good idea in theory, I just don't know how to do it. The club does have a big kitchen with huge pans so the tools are there (they're used to making dinner for 90 men at a time). I might have to speak to one of the ladies who does the cooking and ask for some advice! Maybe if I ply her with wine she'll offer to do it for me!
Only 2 sleeps until my Hen party! I'm really excited about it, I packed my bag on Tuesday night... then repacked it last night! There's enough sparkly make up in there to sink a ship! My friends keep sending me photos of sneak peeks of their costumes and they're so funny! The final piece of my costume arrived yesterday, a necklace that looks like this (not this actual one, but very close and in pink!):Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I asked my Dad last night about the chilli and he's offered to make it all for me! He's matey with a local butcher so he'll get a good deal on a gazillion kilos of mince and he loves cooking and a good challenge so I just have to give him my chilli recipe and leave him to it. Good old Dads eh?!
My Mum has also bought my wedding jewellery which is beyootiful. She's bought me a pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings. This is the necklace and the bracelet is the same.
She got a bit confused ordering the earrings and ordered the wrong ones, she got me pearl studs which are lovely but she decided they're too big for me so she's going to try to get them swapped for smaller drop style ones which I tried on in the shop (well, using one of those funny plastic things because you're not allowed to put them in!) and loved. It is all quite expensive but I plan on keeping it forever as it's a very classic set. I'm going to lend the set to my brother's fiance for their wedding so she can use it as her something borrowed too!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I don't know where that picture went! It's a tough one to find a picture of! Here it is anyway! I love it!
I'm a bit confused now about the earrings because I like the ones I linked to before, but I also like these and these!
There are some pretty vintagey looking earrings on the Glitzy Secrets website, anything catch your eye there?
It was my Hen party this weekend and it was really good! Spa day was lovely and relaxing and dressing up as Barbies was hilarious! They surprised me with a Limo too, it was awesome! I'll post some photos later in the week when I get them!

Hi Birdie, just coming out of lurkdom to say glad you had a good hen night, sounded so fun and it's great you got a limo too! I stayed at that spa hotel for a friends 18th ages ago and thought it was lovely. Good luck with the final details before you go!

Thanks girls!
Oooh in 4 weeks we'll be there and waiting for the Tuesday Flight Folk to arrive! It'll also be the first of 3 birthdays whilst we're out there! There's going to be so much going on when we're there, OH's parents' anniversary, Valentine's Day, Hen & Stag parties, the Wedding and 3 birthdays! We'll be desperate for a night off!
I finally ordered my gift bags for the OOT bags last night, blue for boys and pink for girls! I've sorted all the stuff to go in them and our guests are getting a pretty good haul, I hope they appreciate them! :rotfl:
I was also inspired by another thread floating round here and I'm making custom guest book pages, I got the basic idea from here and I've had a play around with word and knocked together a nice bright holiday themed page for our guests to fill in at the dinner table. I'll post a photo tonight, I'm quite proud of myself really since I had a total mind block last week when I was trying to figure out how to do it! I've asked them to draw themselves in one frame, us in another, and in little text box thingys: how many babies we'll have and if they'll be Rugby boys or Barbie girls; their favourite part of the day; if we were superheroes what would our powers be; are we two peas in a pod or do opposites attract and if they have any words of wisdom for us.I've tried to keep it light because I'd hate to have to think really hard about answering 'deep' questions if I got given one!

Wow Birdie - how exciting! Just looked at MrcCtobe's Wedding Club list, and you're next on the list to be married! The scary thing is, we're not far behind you! Moon and I will be on to that this weekend.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Ooooh How exciting/scary that I'm next on the list!
I really hope our evening invites arrive today or tomorrow, OH is starting to get jittery about it even though I keep telling him there's nothing I can do to make the post arrive sooner!
I'm going to the hairdresser with my Mum and SIL tonight for SIL/BM's hair trial and Mum and I are going on Saturday afternoon. SIL was mortified when I told her she couldn't wash her hair this morning as per the hairdresser's instructions!
I e-mailed a Steel Band yesterday asking for a quote and they came back with £500! Maybe not then... a couple of local DJ's have quoted me £150 for the night which seems reasonable, I just have to check with a friend before I book anything as I remember her saying something about knowing a DJ and getting me a good deal.
I'm having a bit of a worry about my registry office outfit as I showed it to OH the other night and he curled his lip up and said it made me look 'wide'... and he does have a point! I have nothing else suitable though... urgh! Brought it with me to show my Mum tonight to see what we can do to break it up a bit, maybe if I just add a sash it'll look better? I hope so! If not, this weekend will be spent running around trying to find a little white dress!
I'm trying to think of a couple of nice little extra treats to put in my Mum's OOT bag but drawing a bit of a blank. She knows about nearly everything that's going in the bags considering I used her staff discount to buy a lot of the stuff and she got all the samples of perfume and moisturiser from her 'contacts' on the make-up and perfume counters! I might get her a nice travel sized perfume that she likes if it's not too pricey and some nice travel sized toiletries. OH saw what everyone is getting in the OOT bags and asked if he was getting a special one... what's the point?! If I'm packing him a bag it'll just be his normal wash bag! :rotfl: At this rate my suitcase is going to be so full of presents for everyone else there'll be no room for my stuff!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary.
