Hello! I haven't had a lot to update recently, everything's been kind of pushed to one side with Christmas looming!

I went shopping with both Mums yesterday and MIL2B said that she wanted a different dress to wear for the wedding (her original dress looked like this, not this exact one but near enough), I think OH had been giving her a bit of a hard time about wearing dark colours, I was a bit worried about it too but I wanted MIL to be comfortable so had made my peace with it. Anyhoo, I think my influence has rubbed off on her and she's been getting a lot braver with colour since I first took her shopping and she picked this out. It's a lot brighter in real life and she's really happy with her new outfit. She got everything to go with it too: bag, shoes, feathery hair clip, earrings. She's gone from wall flower to super bright! I love it! :D Her 'old' frock will be worn to the registry office and she's going to take it away with her too as we're having a couple of 'dress up' evenings when we're there so she'll have a chance to wear it.

OH has also finally booked the venue for the party! He got the date wrong (*rolling eyes*) but at least it's sorted. It's the 5th March which is a week after we get back! I have no idea how I'm going to sort so much in such a short space of time, but I'll have to manage! A friend of OH's has offered to sort the expenses to make up for not going on OH's stag do (which is about £50 to cover the bar staff) but we're putting it to one side anyway just in case as his GF is a bit of a cow and as soon as she finds out she'll go mad at him and I'm expecting the friend to come to us with his tail between his legs telling us that actually he can't cover it!

My Mum didn't get any more party stuff when she was away which is a bit of a bummer (the shops were full of Christmas decorations) so I'll just have to work with what I've got. there's still so much to get, but I can't because my money's being used up for Christmas... but I'll never get a chance to get everything because all spare money will be put towards the holiday... argh! I think the venue has white table cloths so I'll just use them and pretty them up rather than buying coloured tablecloths... I really want to cover the walls but that's not looking very likely right now either. I'm going to have to brain storm with my Mum to see what she comes up with!

Well now that Christmas is over and done with I can actually focus on the wedding! There are 45 days to go to the ceremony, 39 until we fly, 31 until the registry office! Not that I'm counting...

On Friday OH bought his wedding ring :j We've been struggling to find a ring for him because nothing he tried on suited him! He had wanted to get a cheapish titanium ring because he doesn't really see himself wearing it very much but we figured out that silvery metals don't suit him and as much as it pained him to admit it, good old gold suits him best! We found a 'pre-loved' two tone white/yellow gold ring in a local jeweller in the sale and OH argued it down to £130 (original price £285). More than he wanted to pay but he loves it and he'll actually wear it so I'm quite happy! I don't have a picture but it looks like this:

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSpeaGTgtLbPqYiaq7snVU_fZF5SrtvoAOdewFaD7Bmw2OBk554x23myHMf

I've picked out my ring, it's this one. We got given a £50 off voucher by a friend who had bought his GF a watch for Christmas and won't be going back to spend the qualifying amount to use it and the voucher is valid from 23rd January so we're using it. I can wait a few more weeks if I'm going to save £50!

Today I have phoned the registry office and paid the £42.50 fee, the woman I spoke to was most bemused when I said that we were all arriving together, I didn't need an 'entrance', I didn't want any music... I just wanted to say the words, sign the paper and leave! :o

I have also just booked in to get Hollywood Lashes and a lash tint done the Tuesday before we go so I'm going to look like Jordan with massive lashes! LOL! :p I think on the Wednesday I'm going round to my Mum's friend's house and she's going to give me a pedicure... I just have to find time to fit in getting some Acryllic nails done, I haven't had them for ages but I want to have nice nails that'll actually last the full 2 weeks rather than my current solution of stick-ons from Boots!

People have started asking what we want for presents which is a bit of an odd feeling. I don't really like asking for things from people (other than my parents and OH :o) It seems like people are offering to pay off part of our honeymoon or getting us dollars though which will be great! I'll have to remember to send 2 thank you cards to people who do either, one straight after the wedding to say 'Thank you very much' and one after the Honeymoon with a photo to say 'Look what you gave us!' :)

I have no idea what's happening with the party... I really want to get it pushed back a week for a few reasons, 1) I'd like a weekend between to get sorted and relax a bit, 2) Half of our guests are getting back on the Tuesday so will need a bit of downtime themselves before the party, 3) My friend has offered to cater it but she's away until the day of the current party date so won't be able to do it.

I think a job for tonight is to find lots of pink and blue gift bags for the OOT bags so I can get them finished and tick it off my list! I saw a great guest book idea on another thread and one of my old school friends had it at her wedding and it looked great. I'm thinking about DIY-ing something similar to put in the OOT bags but I'm not sure what kind of questions I should ask, any ideas?

Hi Birdie - really not long now until your wedding! :T

Love your wedding band. If I'm not working tomorrow, I'm going to go into the jewellers to discuss having mine made. Unfortunately as my engagement ring is in 18ct white gold, I've had to opt for that for my wedding band, which makes it a bit more expensive. I've chosen to have something like this PR942Di9.jpg but mine will only have 7 diamonds inset.

Can't believe we can now say we're getting married this year!

What are you doing with your hair and makeup when you're abroad? Are you getting someone at the hotel to do it? I'm trying to decide what I'm going to do at the moment. I may get my hair done in resort but do my own makeup.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

My engagement ring is 18ct white gold too so it's not ideal getting a 9ct wedding band but I won't be wearing them together too much as once I have a baby I won't wear my engagement ring on a daily basis because I don't want to scratch the poor thing! I had looked at rings like the one you're getting but there was just too big a gap between rings, the one I've chosen is the only one I've found that sits well with my engagement ring.

It's very scary that I'm getting married next month never mind this year! :rotfl:

There's a salon at the resort so I'll go along when I first arrive and ask them about the price of getting my hair done. I think I'll do my own make-up, I'm going to go along to a posh make-up counter next time I'm in Newcastle and get them to show me how to apply make-up that'll last in the sun and get my Mum to watch and take notes! I believe my Mum has organised for me, her and my BM to go along to her hair salon at some point this month for a hair trial to figure out how to have my hair and she's going to take pictures as it's done so we can show the people at the resort if it's something too complicated for us to do. We do have a wild card in that OH's Aunt who's coming used to be a hairdresser so we can always use her as a fall back if needs be! OH very nicely said to me last week when I was telling his Mum of the plans, 'You're having your hair done? But... it'll just be mental like it was last time won't it? What can you possibly do to your hair to make it look anything other than a ball of frizz?!' Thanks honey, so kind to point that out! :rotfl: I think he was expecting me to turn up with my hair in plaits since that's all I can do with my hair when we're on holiday! :rotfl:

Next MONTH!!! How exciting  I can't believe it's come around so quickly Birdie, I remember when you two just got engaged. You must be looking forward to it so much. The ring looks lovely, and it sounds like a good plan to delay the party a bit. Whatever's the easier option go for it I reckon.

My ring is going to be made for me, as I had the same problem you had with the gaps. This way the ring will be moulded to fit exactly around my engagement ring. They said it'll only take 3 weeks to make, so it may be worth investigating if you wanted to get one made.

My engagement ring is similar to this one:

Oooh that's so pretty! I don't really think I can afford to get a ring made ATM. I may get a replacement in a few years when we can afford it depending on how the ring I'm going to get wears. I've also told OH I want a 'maternity' ring when I have a baby, instead of an eternity ring! ;)

Ooh not long now Birdie, six weeks or so! I've talked myself into a palladium wedding ring but I really want a platinum one, I'm not usually fussy but hey ho. Love the one you posted though!

    40 days to go! :j

We got our first wedding present last night from OH's best-girl-friend and her husband, they took us out for dinner and gave us some dollars to spend when we're away which was lovely of them! They also gave us a card to Mr & Mrs Birdie which was a bit odd but I suppose I'll have to get used to that! :o

OH was a star yesterday and changed the date of the party to the 12th March, I'm so relieved and happy about that! I'm going to order some postcards from Moo with our picture on and get them sent out ASAP since it's getting really close!

I also found a bargain in Accessorize yesterday, fans were 70% off so I got some to put in the OOT bags, they're really cute with a dark blue background with little white hearts all over and they were only £1.20 each down from £4! Even more of a bargain for me since Mum paid for them! ;)
