I don't want anything too big so maybe no to the flip flops (I'll have a suitcase full of stuff for everyone else and nothing for me!) but bite cream is a good idea! Added to my list!

Thinking about putting the bits in little bags like these, pink for girls and blue for boys!

I want my wedding too- now! At least it is now less than a year away!

Did I mention that we're actually cheating a bit and getting legally married here before we go? It's going to save a heck of a lot of hassle and sleepless nights (translating a bunch of documents into Spanish including a document of 'Singularity', then waiting 6 months for the wedding certificate to arrive at home to then get translated into English- too much like hard work!) but I'm a bit worried about it turning into a circus as it'll be a waste of time for people to go to the Dominican to see us get 'married' if they've already been part of the legal bit. What I wanted was to just go to the registry office, do a quick 'I Do' and sign the paper with a couple of witnesses. Now, both sets of parents want to be there, although I said it was just a 'paperwork exercise' our Mums still want to be there. Which is fine, I can handle that. But OH keeps moaning about it turning into a Big Thing because siblings will turn up but I've said that I don't want my brother and SIL there or his brothers but although he keeps whingeing about the number of people coming he still expects his brothers to turn up! I don't know why he can't just either keep it quiet or tell them that yes, we're getting the legal bit done on x date but the real wedding is when we're away. Or as the travel agent wrote down- 'Renewal of Vowels'! :rotfl: I didn't have the heart to correct her!

Anyhoo... thinking about looking bridal but not too bridal for the 'Legal Bit', I like the idea of wearing something like this although I don't like exposed zips so maybe not this one!

Keep them away Birdie, otherwise the registry office will become the real thing, and you'll find only the real core of people go to the holiday part. Be careful about looking bridal, next thing is there'll be a big meal after and before you know it you accidentally walked into a small registry office wedding and big family holiday after, rather than people seeing the bit on the beach as the real wedding.

I know! I'm really worried about it! I still want to wear a pretty dress to look nice but I'd ideally like just a couple of witnesses. TBH it's OH who's going to cause the problem because I'd said that we'd go with a couple of friends, get hitched and then go for a bit of dinner and some drinkies, both Mums were OK with that as they understood why I want it that way (although a little put out they wouldn't push me to have them there if I didn't want them) but OH was like, 'I can't get married without my parents there!' Even though I explained that it's just signing some paper, so both sets would have to come... and I know that his brothers would turn up 'coincidentally' and yes, we'd end up going for dinner (probably at the restaurant I was originally going to have as the venue when I was looking at getting married here! LOL!). Argh. I might just book it and not tell anyone but my friend and tell OH the morning that we're supposed to go so he can't tell his family!

hi ive read abit of your thread and wanted to say how gorgeous it all sounds

on your latest dilemma why dont you just tell the family that the legal bit at the office is just that-an office a room with three chairs and a table
ive read of people doing this as its the cheapest way
then nobody else can come as they physically cant fit in the room!

Re minitures: How about that Magicool stuff? They do little mini ones and its really good! Or one of those mini fans? I've got a few little minitures from hotels etc, so make sure you collect those lol xx

I've made some headway; I hoard freebie make up and I've got loads of (unused!) mini lip glosses- I became a big fan of Bodyform when they were giving away Jemma Kidd lip glosses so I can put them in the girl's bags. I'm seeing my Mum tonight so I'm going to ask her to get lots of mini perfumes and other samples from work.

I didn't get through to the registry office so I sent them an e-mail, hoping to hear back today.

Mini toothbrush, you know those travel ones that fold up. Those refresher wipe things, for hands and faces. Dunno where you'd get them from though lol they have them on the plane.
