  • hi birdie, i've been following your wedding planning on dinahs thread, and i've subscribed to this one because i think your wedding sounds amazing!! I love all the things you've found for your party back home-they're class! Your dress is so pretty too-though i really loved the really bright dresses that you had posted on dinahs thread-really thick question, but how did you find them? I've been trying to use google to find more of that sort of thing, but I'm not really sure what to do call it?!

fingers crossed you get to try your dress on again!

Aww thanks! :D I didn't see my dress today, we went to 3 shops in York and my friend is going to be a total Bridezilla I can feel it, she'd have had a right face on if I had! I can understand it though, it's 'her' time!

I know what you mean about struggling to find those dresses, it took me a while to figure out where to look! When I was looking for bright dresses I googled Caribbean Print dresses and also prom dresses as the bright fabrics seem to be fashionable at the minute. The sites were mostly american though, the one I like most is Magic Moments, I still secretly really want this dress!

  • aww thanks for the linkies, much appreciated, the stuff i was googling was bringing up some really awful looking dresses, i was starting to get a bit frustrated!!! that dress you posted is beeeeeeeautiful, i love it!!! it's a shame the sites are american, i'd be so scared of spending all that money and getting it and it looking not as nice as i was expecting-that seems to happen to me all the time-i saw a lovely dress on the monsoon website, and then stumbled across it when i was out shopping, and it was terrible looking!

lol @ your friend-it's a shame you didn't get seeing your dress, but probably safer to stay in her good books if she's being a bit bridezilla!

Glad you still got to go shopping yesterday, sucks you didnt see your dress though. When are you buying it, or have you bought it already?
Will be exciting to try it on with all the accessories too.

Love those type of dresses too, but im so short, im sure they'd look ridiculous on me. Understand you wanting to wear your wedding dress at the party back home though, you wont want to take it off! :D
  • Hi
don't know if it's any use but I recently found Sunshine Catering (caribbean company who do catering as well as events organising and lots of other stuff). If you find their website, sorry can't post it, then you might get some ideas.
I found them by accident whilst looking for ideas for my Indian style wedding reception :)

Thanks for that Bargain Queen! I think they're a bit far away (and expensive!) for us but good for stealing ideas off! I like what they've done with the decorations in this picture, lots of lovely bright colours!

Lulu, I've put the deposit down on my dress and it comes into the shop in July. :D I'll be having fittings and alterations done in December so in order to make sure I still fit into my dress in February I'm going to have to be very careful over Christmas!

Those colours would be great, that room looks lovely!

I love the fairy lights round the tree, cheap and effective :D

I'll start keeping an eye out for little bits and bobs, if you start picking up things for the party when you see them cheap, hopefully it wont hit your purse quite as hard xx

Yeah, I think I'll keep an eye out in the January sales for fairy lights and end of summer sales for bright garden party style bits! That's the good thing with it being a year away, I can spend all summer stocking up on bits! No idea where to store it all in my little flat though!

I've also 'borrowed' an idea from another post on here about making 'survival' kits. I'm going to make little Out of Town bags for our wedding guests, so far I've got:
    Mini Sunscreen
    Mini Aftersun
    Asprin
Condoms (not the parents or aunties and uncles!)
    Mini sample perfume/ aftershave
    Eye drops
Hair serum (to prevent mad hair like mine!)

    Hmmm... anything else?

How about some cheapy flip flops or sunglasses? If you can pick them up in the pound shop or something.

Bite cream? Little miniture bottle of alcohol?
