I was thinking of handing out flower leis and flip flops for the ladies when their feet start to hurt later in the night!

I need to find lots of cheap pina colada scented candles so that the party smells lovely and holiday-y!... any ideas?!

Raspabarbas, how much are the palm trees to hire if you don't mind saying?

The butterfly palms in planters are £12.50 each, the canary date palms are £27.50 each, and the chinese windmill palms I haven't had a quote yet as I don't know what size I'll need but they can be £30-100 (will most likely be getting only two small ones as I don't want to pay £200 for a couple of huge trees!)

The company is called Real Oasis, website here: http://www.realoasis.com/index.htm

Re: the candles, if you can't find pina colada ones you could just get a pineapple and a coconut one and put them together!

Good thinking! I might just have to start scouring the cheap shops and pick up candles wherever I can and make 'cocktails' with the various smells!

Thanks for the palm tree prices and the link, will have to see if the budget allows it nearer the time! Which I doubt right now... had a look at the money situation last night and we're not nearly as well off as OH thought. I knew we were going to be struggling but it has taken about 3 months for OH to realise this and he is now very sorry for having a go at me when I suggested we stay in more on a weekend as the money would be better spent on a wedding!

My wedding fund is growing by the day though (little by little!), got some more money coming into it after I sold some jewellery that my ex bought me (only £25 though!) and I sold some DVDs on Amazon so I just need to carry on making money so I can have a great wedding!

My Mum likes bridesmaid dress #2 so thats one vote counted. Just have to see the BMs to get their opinions!

Here we go, sig updated! Kept forgetting to do it! Not updated jewellery money or Amazon sales as money not in my bank yet! Need to get more DVDs on Amazon tonight, couldn't really get on the laptop last night as OH was off work with man flu and was hogging it all night to play some stupid 'School of Wizardry' game on Facebook!

Oooh, the travel agent has just called to say that our 'Wedding Pack' has arrived. Not sure what it consists of but I'm going to pick it up after work. I wonder if there are things like flowers and cakes in there or if it's just details of what we booked... looking forward to seeing what it's all about! I hope there are pictures of things like decoration and cakes so I can get an idea of what we'll be choosing from when we get there.

It's quite frustrating that we can't choose any of the details until we arrive at the hotel. I know that's the joy of getting married in this fashion, no planning stress but I'd like to know what I'm looking forward to!

I'd find that really stressfull, but then I'm really picky! I'm really suprised you don't choose anything before you go, I would have thought the more notice the hotel could have the better, and it'd make you more excited, it must be hard not really doing all the usual wedding planning, you only get to do it once and its kind of a marriage preparation course in and of itself! You're putting so much effort into planning the party when you get back to be perfect, it seems a real shame you get so little input into the most important part :(

Yeah... but I have a fairly decent idea of what'll be available. The cake will probably be a plain white cake with fresh flowers on, which I'm fine with. Although I'd rather it be chocolate and covered with truffles...mmmmm.... might melt though!

The flowers will be exotic flowers, so calla lillies, orchids, birds of paradise, that pinky red one that I always forget the name of.... errr..... hibiscus! I'm not too picky with the details, as long as they've got something pretty I'll be happy! They do loads of weddings so they'll know what brides want!

The thing that's worrying me is my hair. I'm going to have a trial at home (and use the hairdresser for the party) but I'll have to get pictures taken then get some stranger over there to do it... oooh, I hope they do it right! And what with the humidity and my hair's liveliness on holiday there'll be that extra challenge! Might have to return the pretty headband and buy a bonnet instead!

Ooh I love the sound of the cakes with the flowers on!

My hair tends to be 'lively' on holiday too haha!

I'm not sure what flavour the cake will be, everything I read about Caribbean weddings state that the traditional cake is black rum cake which is fruit cake laced with loads of dark rum. Since the Dominican's main export is rum I think it is highly likely that our cake will be like that!

Have you seen my holiday pictures Tete? My hair had to be shackled down in plaits all day then let out to run riot at night, there was no way of controlling it!
