I have found Tesco getting expensive, Asda are cheaper but the quality is not as good as Sainsburys.Like good food and drink?
Try Hotel Chocolat and Baileys.

After all, if you are ordering online it's because you are not going to be going to the store and notice the items you ordered is actually in stock. So if you try to order something and they say they "don't have it, order something more expensive" you won't know if it's the truth or not.
You know what, I'd like to think that they wouldn't do this. I can't completely rule it out though...
I guess that is the good thing about Asda, that they will sub for a higher value item if necessary for the same price (do they still do that? not shopped online with them for at least 2 yrs)
I also live in a fairly affluent area in the SE, so I guess they would be justified in not stocking some value ranges if not many people buy them.
I do wonder though, in the financial climate, if all supermarkets are being a bit squeezed, and so discontinuing some lines where they make less profit!0 -

Must admit, I've not tried using this in the last couple of years, but last time I did it was not great - it wouldn't compare like with like, for eg ASDA 400g mince £3.00, Tesco 500g mince £3.25 in the basket, so would say that Tesco were more, but actually Tesco is better per kilo IYSWIM (completely made up example, of course).
Maybe I need to give it another go.
I suspect I'm just a little averse to change!0 -
"I can no longer get Value apple juice (56p) so they suggest the discount brand alternative at 79p."
Until 23 March Princes juices (apple/orange) are only 50p in Tesco, cheaper than any value juice - also same price in Morrisons until 28 March.0 -

GRRR why didn't they suggest that as the alternative option then?
That does make me a little cross:mad:0 -

And you've just reminded me I forgot to buy Marmite:) Which incidentally I have another question about - I always used to buy own brand yeast extract instead of Marmite - I can't find that in any shops locally - has it been discontinued across the board?0

Vegemite is completely different. IMO its pretty yuk! Yeast extract, to me, tastes just like marmite:) Enjoy:)0 -
I usually shop at Morrison's - 1 big shop per month and then top up shops.
Ive noticed that my monthly shop seems to be going up quite a bit at Morrisons. am pretty lucky that i have a few shops nearby each other and i can get various bits in different shops. I've done my monthly online shop with Asda this month and it seems to be quite a bit cheaper-so far. Managed to make £14 savings and i got a voucher for free delivery-another £4.50 saving. I havent bought my milk and bread online, but its still going to work out cheaper. Farm Foods are doing 2 4 pts of milk for £1.50, so i'll get it there and morrisons do the bread i like at 2 for £1 at the moment. I guess it pays to shop around...0
