Well that was a massive increase. I find Sainsburys do random and quite large increase quite regularly though. Is it for price establishment though so they can shout a saving later?

Just keep an eye on the prices of Maryland Cookies in both Tesco and Sainsbury - price fluctuation is madness

Although there are many increases they are still being thoroughly outdone in this practice by Tesco - the pricing of Tesco's 'discount' brands will have you rital (rolling in the aisles laughing).

I find Sainsb*rys Basics really good value but the prices go up and down like they are on bits of elastic :rotfl:

If you have the time its worth a quick trawl round the shelves as there are always a few gems to be had...but you have to buy there and then cos they are there one day and gone the next ..the other week, they were selling Basic battered fish fillets [pack of 4] for 49p..back up to 98p this week though.

Miss the shortbread at 14p ...how can they justify a 50% price increase when they bump it up to 21p? :(

The one I have noticed is not so much a price increase , more of a weight decrease.

Have noticed that thier basic sweetcorn can has shrunk to the size of their basic carrots and peas size cans. But they still charge the old price of 29p.

Edit : Having just looked at thier site, I think the cans are even smaller!

This week I found it was cheaper to buy Sainsburys own brand sweetcorn rather than their Basics tins because of the weight decrease by them shrinking the cans.

They tend to be loss leaders, when demand goes up they shove prices up, all supermarkets do this as they cant afford to sell too many loss leaders

but look at how much you are saving over all - priceless eh? I like a lot of it, not all of it but gotta say, the curry sauce with fish and chips is far better than the chippy version!! And it isn't often we have this either but for 9p you can forget the chip shop prices! :)

Basics bananas are more expensive than loose ones! £1.39 for a bag of 8 basics. I got 7 loose ones and they cost me 98p. They were all a good size too. You have to be careful not to get suckered by the basics must be cheaper mindset:p

I think their huge profits say otherwise.
