Sainsbury's value yoghurts 4 pack, 2xp up to 4xp (can't remember exactly but it's nearly doubled)

these have gone up from 15p to 40p - almost tripled!! And they have the cheek to have one of their signs up beside the yoghurts showing how they're the same price as Tesco - like we want them to rise the price to meet Mr T!

Don't forget Sterling has gone down by a lot. Anything imported/transported (diesel etc) is going to go up even more. Which is most stuff as far as I know.

We're right into the growing season in the UK atm, so if you look, lots of fruit and veg will be home grown. you can beat the exchage rate :money:

Lidl still had butter at 85p on Friday so I stocked up - everywhere else it has gone up to 95p. However basmati rice has come down by a lot since a year ago when it shot up to £15 for a sack - now it's only £12
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I have noticed the tesco value yogurts 4 pack changes weekly up and down. Not sure how or why the price can change up and down week for week. I like it best when it comes back down.

Asda smart price noodles are also up from 9p to 14p. I weaned my son on organic vegetable purees, but now he is 5 he would eat smartprice noodles every day if I let him (I don't):o

    That's something like a 65% increase?
  • Our Mr T's has stopped stocking their value cottage cheese- I did actually complain to customer services as it was always sold out so it could hardly be cos no-one bought it! They still sell it in the one near work.

Also noticed that tinned tomatoes have been going up in price in all the stores lately including Aldi's.

I think that overall Tesco's is the worst offender for taking away value lines- its not cheaper to shop there anymore- its just as cheap for me to shop wisely in Sainsbury's
    June Budget= £151.41/£150:cool:

I'm just wondering, (possibly wandering too!) and I have no data to back this up and am just thinking aloud - but when we officially dipped in the recession all the supermarkets made a big thing about 'helping' in difficult times, lowering prices, keeping them low, blah blah blah. Are they now trying to quietly take prices back either to where they were, and/or adding a bit more on top to make up for the bit they took off in the first place? Another possible reason behind it - is another 'supermarket price war' imminents, so they are setting themselves up to 'drop' prices be hiking them up in readiness? Or am I just a suspicious and cynical old witch?

    Me Too!!

I was furious about this one last week when I went to buy milk!!
Poor OP- he had to follow me around while I went and put all my basket of shopping back on the shelves and stomped out the store demanding that we go shop in asda- where their 1% is still £1!!

    just on principle!!

Yep, me too. I expect that'll be 'cos more of us are cooking from scratch, and tinned tomatoes are the base ingredient for a lot of recipes. Therefore the consumer is buying more. The supermarkets take note and hike up the prices - gits!!

I don't think it's cheap to shop in any one place. A$da always used to get all of my grocery order, but if you compare items on My$upermarket, prices jump about on a weekly basis - what's cheap in A$da one week is cheaper in Te$cos the next, so I always check and have saved myself a lot of money in the process. I shop between A$da, Te$cos, £idL & Icel@nd. Yes it's a lot of faffing about, but needs must, and I hate to be ripped off!
