Will the CSA's (CMEC) "Name & Shame" List make Dodgy Absent Fathers Pay?
Single mothers have been asking if they want their former partner' to be named and shamed as a absent father who has failed to support his children, on the Child Support Agency's website. The move came as the Work and Pension’s Secretary, John Hutton published the Bill that is to replace the CSA with a new commission the Child Maintenance Enforcement Commission (CMEC). The Bill will also contain new powers to fine absent fathers, deduct money direct from their bank account, take away passports and impose curfews. The commission will share information on parents with credit agencies, potentially affecting future loan or mortgage applications. It can also charge absent parents for the cost of pursuing them if they default on payments.</SPAN>

a search for absent fathers brings up plenty of media hits and csa sites.0 -

Not sure of my thoughts of it to be honest...I feel it could be counter productive0 -

The name and sahme thing was on a few years back, was only a few names on it, but I do recall there was going to be a counter site, which named and shamed the PWCs that were claiming, as it was hosted outside the UK, nowt could be done, but both died a death, , it was the absent father referalls I was highlighting0 -

What's shameful about claiming child support?!:rotfl:
Yeah, I know what you were getting at...that was what I was answering back to!! Having a non compliant ex, I'm not sure if I would agree with it.
Plus no doubt there would be some kind of suicide link and splashed all over the red tops.....give Blob something to preach about though I suppose;)0 -
My son is 12, he had sporadic contact with his father until three years ago, now by both his and father's choice they have no contact, I have never recieved a penny frm father in those 12 years, despite recieveing letter after letter from CSA, he went self employed 5 yrs ago, and this makes it difficult to get any exact earning figures from him, i have been threatened and bcked into a corner over the years so i stopped trying.
My husband is paying £350 p/m to the CSA for his two children, their mother is on income support, and he travels a 200 mile round trip to collect his children every other weekend, and it is just tough, we struggle on, but accept it hasto be paid, why the big fuss ? absent fathers should pay for their children, I earn minimum wage, and after tax ins and all other deductions inc CSA we have joint take hme pay of £900.00, from this goes mortgage £480 p/m, c/t £100p/m and all other household bills, there is nothing left a the end of the month for us to spend on clothes, trips, outings, or aything else that takes our fancy, we live lightly, dont smoke, drink or go out, we take free trips to the beach and entertain each other, one day we will not be in this situation..but as it cannot be changed we do not waste time worrying over it..and our marraige is secure as a result..ensuring our own children do not go on to be the cause of debt between warring couples!! we only live once andhave to make the most of it..0 -
Bolton are really shoddy and I told them so....really useless. They lost my forms and the original documents I sent them, I complained to Dundee who are the heads of certain depts? Not sure but thats who I complained to. Bolton staff are really inept to be polite.
Perhaps you meant Falkirk and they are just as useless as any other CSA office.

Yes because a fiver a week is really providing for your child *rolleyes*
The CSA is a waste of time and money, they help neither the NRP nor the PWC in many cases.
I said what I said tongue in cheek. My wife has an ex partner who because he is unemployed pays only £5 per week for 2 children.
Why dont CSA force unemployed people to work or stop benefits to prevent amassing arrears which the PWC is never likely to see.
I know a few unemployed people that are in this situation, which has been out of their control, but this country has a lot of lazy, irresponsible scum who cant be bothered to see their kids let alone contribute. This applies to those who are working too.
The CSA needs a review of the current system as its failing a lot of people, and at present there is a lot of grey areas with reference to "old rules".
They need to scrap it, start again with common sense prevailing, and only then will we see a fairer system for all.0 -
my sons ex partner received the grand sum of £1.50 a week from her childs father. he was unemployed and had other children, so the CSA said he could afford £10 a week, but it had to be split between them all. probably cost them a lot more in administration than what each of the children were receiving.
shame they never found out that he was working on the side, on building sites, earning several hundred a week cash in hand. dont you just love 'em????0
