It sounds like the CSA 'haven't bothered to take any money off' him as he has a nil liability, in other words the agency has looked at his circumstances and calculted that he can't afford to pay anything in child support. Have you tried asking the CSA why your ex is assessed at nil? They would be in the best position to advise you as they have all the information about your case, rather than those of us on here trying to guess.
But if I did try to guess, I would say he's either in receipt of benefit or has a very low paid job and possibly new children that he is responsible for supporting.0 -
Yes but even in the worst case scenario should the nrp not at the very least be paying 5 pounds per week for each child? I believe years ago on csa1 you could get a nil assessment but I didnt think that was the case anymore.
Someone who knows for sure will be along shortly op just hang fire till then.0 -
Maybe the OP has an old rules case, I know old rules cases can have nil assessments. I don't know about new rules cases.
Incidentally, it always throws me a bit when people on here refer to csa1 and csa2; in the CSA these terms are never used to my knowledge. It's always old rules or new rules. Even more confusingly CS2 is a computer system that the CSA use for processing cases and cases on CS2 can be either old rules or new rules!0 -
Going by the ages of the kids, the case is CS1 which means it can, quite correctly, be a nil assessment for years as they take housing costs etc into account.
OP, you could close the case down and re-open under CS2 after 13 weeks which would then be a straight 20% of his wage. Housing costs are not taken into account and it it a much simpler process.
I have recently done this myself and have been very impressed with the speed of which things get done as oppose to CS1.0 -

They use the terms CS1 and CS2 or S1 and S20 -
Try getting a female NRP to even p[ay the £5 a week minimum, they won't and I quote "the decision whether a deduction from a Non-resident parent's benefit is applicable lies soley with the office responsible for administering the benefit"
Basically if NRP is on benefits if some beaurocrat (sic) thinks they shouldn't have to pay they don't:beer: I've paid the CSA off and stopped them taking payments:beer:
I'm stillowed some arrears by my ex
I was a NRP, now I'm a PWC, partner of a PWC, and parent of a PWC ( and very confused at times )0 -
The decision to deduct maintenance lies with the benefits agency, not the CSA. In the OP's case this isn't relevant anyway as the NRP has a nil liability so there is nothing to be deducted.
I don't know of any CSA officers who treat male and female NRPs/PWCs any differently, if that's what you're implying. We get 'stats' for successfully collecting child maintenance and are praised for good performance; for this reason alone it wouldn't make sense to avoid pursuing an NRP on the basis of their sex, never mind the moral/discrimination issue.0 -

then perhaps you might be able to explain why there is a far higher % of non compliant female nrp's who are pretty much left alone by this incompetent bunch of morons??
just a straw poll of the people i know and 1 non compliant male nrp out of about 15 or so that i personnally know, yet 4 of the 7 female nrp's i know are getting off scott free cos the csa "wimmin" seem to feel sorry for them and are therefore not pursued.
do the math and you'll find a trend appearing of sympathy for female nrp's from this "organisation" across the country.
cos apparently, as if by magic, children become free to look after when they go to live with dad.NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT. THEY'LL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.
and, please. only thank when appropriate. not to boost idiots egos.0 -
How do you know this Speedster? Do you have any facts or figures to prove it?
I'd just be interested to see them...
I know alot of male NRP's but no Female NRP's, so I can't really comment.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0
