  • A change of tactics from my favourite PPC?
Not heard of Napthens before. Anyone know if they are real or is it another Sobell type outfit? Not that it makes any difference of course, just curious.

Thanks Oopsadaisy. From their "debt recovery" page -
Our specialist debt recovery service ‘Debt Action Direct’ takes the headache out of chasing your debts.

Because ‘Debt Action Direct’ is a computerised, invoice based system it allows undisputed debts to be pursued quickly. The system processes letters, reminders and Court documents on time, and will provide management information and statistics on demand. And because the process is fully automated, the amount of administration is reduced.

In other words they just send out standard threatograms every so many days. Just like all the others then.

Cant find anything on these on the web as Debt collectors! Parking Spy have probably just moved from CCS Collect to them. Maybe they thought the solicitor bit would intimidate people more!

Love the bit about the "Undisputed debt" so a speculative invoice is a proven debt?

As Sir Roger says just another name to add to the others already known!

I like your style :) I saved the pic and will start printing some tomorrow.
  • Morning all.

Received my "Final Notice" from John Mitchell of the ParkingEye "Legal Department" this morning.

Just thought I would type it up for those who haven't had one before.

Despite having my name and address, or rather, the name and address of the registered owner of the vehicle which was involved in a "Parking contravention", it is addressed to...

    Dear Sir/Madam!!!

We notice from our records that the previous two Parking Charge Notices we have sent you, which refer to the breach of terms and conditions for parking...have not been paid.

As you will notice the reduced Parking Charge amount of £50 has expired. The amount now payable is £80.

If the payment of £80 is not forthcoming...this will see the Parking Charge rise further to £110.

If this letter is ignored, we will have no option other than to instruct our debt collection agency, to secure immediate payment, commencing court proceedings, through our solicitors, if required. Therefore to avoid future and unnecessary action, please pay the outstanding Parking Charge at the final reduced amount, for what was a clear contravention of the parking regulations.

The consequences of not paying, and subsequesnt legal proceedings, are that you could receive a County Court Judgement and, if you ignore that, a bailiff will attend your address to remove goods.

We are determined to protect the interests of our clients and their customers by managing their car parks, as is legally their right, so that they are free from parking abuse of this kind and fit for their intended purpose.

    ==================================================

Aside from the usual queries about the use of language - all the ifs and coulds and the way it is descibed as a breach of terms and conditions and parking regulations, is there anything interesting about the use of the word "Judgement", as I thought the legal term dispensed with the first letter "e"?

The last line also makes me laugh - "fit for intended purpose"!!! A car park?! I thought that's what I used it for! :rotfl:
