Parking Eye - Nasty tricks
Comments

Forgot to mention in earlier post (put it down to age!) that when complaining was informed of and shown a keypad on the reception counter at B & Q whereby you can request to enter your car reg number if you are going to be in the store for more then 2 hours. This then I was assured stops any penalty being issued by Parking Eyer. It was installed for the use of reps who were going to be in the store for long periods but is available to customers. The drawback? There was no notice advertising this!!
Am contacting the store manager for confirmation that what I was told, i.e. that my parking charge has been withdrawn from the system, has in fact been activated - so watch this space.
Was told also that the land is only leased by B & Q and that Parking Eye were brought in by the landowner to prevent the mass parking that was taking place by people who then walked over to the nearby hospital either for the day, for work, or for visiting. Can fully appreciate that something has to be done to address this situation but not to the detriment of regular and loyal customers.0 -
I hope it does get cancelled but don't be surprised if you get a demand from Parking spy still, it has been known. Well done for not being intimidated by these parasites. To be honest I think these store managers must be as cheesed of with these parking companies as we are. I know the one from B&Q I made sign my return receipt was when I told him it was to cover me as I had returned within the 2 hours.:D
That's part of my ploy now, take things back and then get the manager to sign the receipt that I was authorised to be there.
I would still ignore the PPC anyway but it will pi$$ the managers off and maybe make them act to get the toads removed!;)
I am wondering if it may speed up the process for this to happen if customers who do receive such an invoice to return all their shopping and ask for a refund. As I know myself and trust me...I can be a little cow, I'd probably do exactly that0 -

Even better, if this is in a supermarket, fill up a very large trolley with frozen foods, get as far as the check-out, abandon said trolley, and proclaim at the top for your voice "my parking time-limit has ran out. I'm off".
It's surprising how the time can soon go. The Sainsbury's in Lincoln has just had a refit. It now has very large clothing and electrical departments, and the restaurant proudly announces that you might have to wait up to 30 minutes for your meal to be prepared. Add all that time to your grocery shopping and the two-hour limit is soon exceeded. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

ROFL you are RIGHT UP MY STREET!(However, I'd probably go further and wait until all the shopping is on the conveyor belt and the cash point operator has scanned at least half of the items

Why are you bothering to waste your time doing this???Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -

True..while waiting for the manager you may find yourself in danger of yet receiving another ticket.
Just ignore them!!!
One thing I'd let the manager know on the cheapest way posting (usually email) 'Ive now decided never to dirty your car parking facilities again and will tell all my friends not to it either.'0 -

I had one issued early Feb telling me to pay the "reduced" rate of £50 within 14 days otherwise it would be the full rate of £80
Stupidly I phoned them, mainly to establish where the car park was. I asked if I would get to see the photographic evidence before the 14 days was up and I was assured that I would.
Well 14 days passed and lo and behold. no photographic evidence
Then, came a letter with the photos dated 11 days after the first reminding me that I had 4 days left to pay the £50 rate
Only this letter arrived in my letterbox 2 days beyond that deadline meaning I was too late anyway
Thier first letter took 4 days to get to me after it was dated
The second letter took a week
I very rarely get 1st class mail coming later than one day and second class 2 days to get to me so delaying tactics must be their game.
I think that they must sit on the letters a few days between dating and sending them in order to create a sense of urgency
I did park in ALDI in Market Harborough last week went off to town because I fancied a walk and later returned and spent £90 in AlDI. I never for one moment thought I would get a charge like this, and quite frankly will never buy at ALDI again.
Can I do anything to try and get my money back from these daylight robbers?0 -
I have just had a parking charge notice from these people Parking Eye. VEry sad I did not look here. I Paid it by phone, they have an answer phone. It looked official, I though it was a police notice.

Hi all, I'm back with an update.
My appeal (which I thought was beautifully scripted) was turned down to my horror and I then had another letter from them with some photos of my car on. They missed the point a little as I did not once say my car wasn't in the car park - just it wasn't me in the car and that the 'fine' was ridiculous for an incident between 5.31am and 6am! No monetary loss etc.
Anyway, I got my FINAL NOTICE yesterday and I know I should have just ignored it but I sent another letter which I've pasted in case it helps or amuses anyone.

Dear John,
Many thanks for the Final Notice you have sent me, dated 30th January. I’m pleased it is a final notice because I do not wish to receive any further correspondence from Parking Eye.
To re-iterate what I wrote in my first letter, I was absolutely, categorically, 100% NOT the driver on 27th December 2010 between 05:31 and 06:11. I was asleep like most sane people.
I therefore never saw the signs which you say exist in the car park (which, in fact I have never been to in my life) and have therefore not entered into any contractual agreement with Parking Eye.
Now, of course I could tell you who was driving on that day. But I am not obliged to do so and given the ludicrous nature of your invoice I don’t expect anyone to have to pay for this. Seriously say it to yourself ‘Half past five in the morning’. Half past five! Who the hell has lost out here? There has been no monetary loss to Pizza Hut (which doesn’t open until 11.30 am), your company or anybody else.
Do not send me anything more, either directly or via some menacing collections company as your dispute is not with me. I have done nothing wrong and will continue to do nothing wrong by avoiding your threats.
If you still wish to pursue this matter may I ask that a court date is arranged to bring this farce to an end.
One more time: I was not in the car.
And remember to keep saying this: ‘Half past five in the morning.’
Silly isn’t it?
Regards,
Mike Newman0 -
I wonder if that Mr. Mitchell of the "legal department" has any actual legal training? I bet in reality he is just another low-paid drone with no qualifications. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
