URGENT WARNING - NEW PARKING LAW BEEN PASSED.

A new law has been passed that means PPC tickets are deemed to be merely unenforceable invoices and the government issued advice is to ignore, ignore, ignore some more.

Does this mean that they finally realise that their attempts to scam people out of money is now officially doomed to fail and a lot of these scammer-companies are now closing down?

When was it passed as a law? Not heard anything on the news.
  • this is just Oopsadaisy having fun again. No law passed.

    Ah, cheers :rotfl:
  • I got a 'fine' from Parking Eye a few months ago. I ignored all the letters and have now heard nothing for several weeks. If anyone reading this gets one of these 'fines', do exactly what everyone in the know does - IGNORE.

received a charge notice from parking eye for parking too long in b&q carpark asking for £ 50 now or £110 if after 13 days ,
i am sure that i have seen this on the tv , should i pay ?
is this a proper parking fine ?

Ignore ignore ignore and ignore some more

But do send a lovely letter to B&Q saying that you will no longer be shopping there due to them employing Parking Eye.
  • Got my second letter today - the one with photo's of the car entering and leaving the car park. I wasn't expecting such poor quality! Not only is the picture so grainy that you can't really make anything out, the close-up of the number plate is almost unreadable.

Suffice to say, I will continue to ignore.
  • For anyone this may help. Visited B & Q at Sutton in Ashfield last week and then received parking ticket from Parking Eye. I'd stayed some forty minutes over the 2 hours. I had spent the whole of this time shopping in B & Q and still had the receipt from my purchases. Even before taking it from envelope thought it was from the police - because of the black and white chevron edging. Anyway, read all your views and decided I was not going to pay - though I'm no spring chicken so it did give me a sleepless night!! In order to gather "evidence" I returned to B & Q to check out all the parking notice boards that I must have missed on my first visit. There was no notice on entry to the site, nor throughout my journey to a parking space. From my car to the entry to the store, again no notices. On the entry to the store - no notices!!
As I understand it, this is not in keeping with the code of practice they should be adhering to.
I returned to the car park and, lo and behold, if you look for them there are notices dotted about - but 12 foot up poles so that the wording at the end of the notice was impossible to read. If I can't read all the small print, how can I be in a position to enter into any contract with them? It could have been telling me I had to dye my hair blue before I could park!!!!
Armed with a copy of the parking ticket and a copy of my receipt from shopping in the store I went in to see the manager. I was really ready for a good showdown and made my feelings perfectly clear. Guess what? He was the most pleasant and polite fella I have dealt with in some time and immediately agreed to make sure that the parking ticket was taken from the system!!
I am still annoyed that this could have happened and haven't finished yet. But for now it is quite an anti climax that I won't get my day in court.
My advice? Don't make any contact with Private Eye, collect all the evidence you can and if it is anything like my experience I can't see that they have a leg to stand on if they should take you to court. Good luck!!

Nice gesture by the store's manager and good to read that there are some decent ones who actually take these matters on. However, as it appears to be the store's manager who agreed to that I wouldn't bet on it on to happen. It's Parking Eye who want your money and I doubt that they will listen to anything the store's manager tells them.
Perhaps you should write an email to their HQ? And even then I doubt that Parking Eye will let go. In any case, follow the advice from here: Do not pay, do not get intimidated and under no circumstances engage into any communication with Parking Eye.

I hope it does get cancelled but don't be surprised if you get a demand from Parking spy still, it has been known. Well done for not being intimidated by these parasites. To be honest I think these store managers must be as cheesed of with these parking companies as we are. I know the one from B&Q I made sign my return receipt was when I told him it was to cover me as I had returned within the 2 hours.:D

That's part of my ploy now, take things back and then get the manager to sign the receipt that I was authorised to be there.

I would still ignore the PPC anyway but it will pi$$ the managers off and maybe make them act to get the toads removed!;)
