This is an old thread, with old advice which no longer applies from 2013 onwards!!!!!

  • Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster.

After going through the 15 pages of this thread, I'm going to take the advice and ignore the PCN from Parking Eye and will keep the process updated.

I received my PCN after using a car park in Preston (previously mentioned in this thread) on Corporation Street, with an Aldi, Blockbuster etc.

There is a limit of 1 hour 20 minutes and their camera (although, I'm sure there used to be a person walking around noting car reg's down) clocked me entering and leaving 1 hour 48 minutes apart, overstaying my welcome by a whopping 28 minutes! Thus, apparently leading to an £80 charge (£50 if paid within 13 days).

Despite seeming like a ridiculous amount to pay for 28 minutes, being an honest citizen, I logged on to pay but being of a sceptical mind, I decided to check out Parking Eye first and lo and behold, this thread was the first thing that popped up.

Despite not usually being the type to stand up to authority, I feel ready and willing to take the challenge! We shall see what happens.

Thanks to all those who have posted on here with advice and I shall keep my experience updated.

    Letter 1 duly ignored :)

Good for you. You quoted you are not one to normally stand up to authority. Well remember they have none. Also by not paying does not make you dishonest, just shows your not a mug! These companies have no interest in car park control, just interested in fleecing members of the public. Who they believe have broken some stupid contravention they dreamt up.
  • WoW letter number 3 came fast :T only 3 dayz after letter number 2, they must really need the cash lol, as per the advise on here letter number 3 will be filed in the same dust bin as letter number 1 & 2 :D think there is meant to be 1 more letter then my collection will be complete.
  • I had a PCN from PE back in november. I have taken the advice and ignored them.

In the stickys it shows the chain of letters to expect from parking eye. Are these in order of issue because the last letter i had was a copy of letter 4 and they seem to have skipped the CCS debt collectors letter. Also, in the beginning these letters were coming through pretty quick and i have now not heard from them for over a month. Have they given up?

It should also be noted that i was not driving the car at the time and i have since moved 250 miles away from where the "offence" was committed.
  • Hi
I have just received a parking eye fine, followed by a 2nd letter and a final notice to pay. I was only over by a few minutes. I paid a similar fine a few months ago without knowing. I wrote a letter of appeal as adviced and did not even receive an acknowledgement. Thanks to this thread I know that things are different. Whatever has happened to our great country? It used to be one of the most caring, generous and decent countries in the world and now rouges are allowed to exploit people. Is there no way the legal system stop these happening. Consider the negative emotions and anxieties caused in so many people by just one firm.

Glad you know not to pay now, but please do not dignify these scum companies by calling their little bits of paper "fines" - they are nothing of the sort.
  • My son has received 2 invoices from Parking Eye this week for a multi storey car park in Manchester which he has never used and was nowhere near Manchester on the dates specified.
Is it possible they've misread the number plate as I am worried about car cloning.

All the advice on Parking eye is very much appreciated.

[/QUOTE]Almost certainly, car cloning is relatively rare. Just ignore everything from Parking Eye.
  • Thank you, just thought it strange to get 2 seperate invoices for the same car park in Manchster for different dates in January and each time the car was 40 miles away from Manchester but only half mile from their PO Box address
