I got one of these "Parking Charge Notices" from Parking Eye today. I've been quite worried. I read through this whole thread and it looks like I shouldn't worry. I've been charged £80 or just £50 if I pay within 14 days.

The letter did look quite professional to me with the data matrix and bar code thing for the Royal Mail sorting machines. Then there are the various official logos on their website. Something about the way it was presented didn't feel totally 'solid' though. I'm not sure what other word I could use. The 16 day delay between my supposed violation and the date I received the letter seems quite long for a start.

It was a B&Q car park. B&Q was closed. :-\ I didn't see the "signage" saying that there was a time limit. My car was typically the only one there and it was dark and there was a lot of snow.

I did attempt an appeal by e-mail saying that I didn't know that there was a time limit in the car park. I guess I should just ignore everything else from them.

One thing still worries me. They know my address. Could this be a problem?

Its no problem if they know your address, just ignore them from here on in, they won't take you to court.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Mr Lodger appears to require a personality transplant as he comes across as a very unpleasant individual. I read with interest Mr Lewis' advice that this is to be a friendly forum to assist people. However due to their petty natures many cannot refrain from inserting derisory comments about people they do not know.

The 'numpty/goon/chimp' to whom this poster refers doubtless would prefer to engage in other employment, however this may be the only job he or she was able to obtain in order to feed his or her family.

If he or she had turned down the job I have no doubt that 'Roger' would be maligning them for being an unemployed layabout who had turned down the opportunity to support themselves.

My personal belief is that parking wardens do a valuable job. They ensure that the roads are kept clear of drivers who would otherwise park in inconvenient places thereby stopping the flow of traffic. They ensure that people leave parking lots at the prescribed time thereby ensuring parking spaces are available for all.

Perhaps we should just create a free for all and the first occasion when you could not get to the hospital/doctors or make that important appointment because a driver had just parked his car where he wanted this board would be inundated with complaints about 'isn't someone supposed police the traffic'

And, No, I am not a parking warden, merely an individual who has not had a parking ticket because I ensure I comply with the parking regulations.

(But I do hate the policy of clamping where the charges are excessive and it deprives an individual of his mode of transportation :D)

Parking wardens do a job they are employed to by the council, private parking personnel do a job at minimum wage that earn a commision , they do not keep roads clear as they don't have the authority, they don't have anything at all to with traffic flow.

They do not provide a service, they provide a problem looking for a solution, time limits are set so they can harass legitimate shoppers at retail parks etc , the people who abuse these car parks know they don't have to pay, so ignore tickets, that is why they use them, but they are vastly in the minority!

I agree with you in regards about the ppc operative having a job, but don't think they provide a service to the community like you describe, they don't its that simple !

To begin parking in some ones car park without using the companies services, could be seen as an abuse of their land.

However Parking eye is best ignored, don't email them don't appeal you may get a few more letters then they will stop. Parking eye like CCTV which will have a picture of you entering and leaving. If it is a manual car park it will be when ever their operative noted your VRM.

I don't know and I don't think anyone else here has knowledge of Parking eye taking anyone to court.

Don't worry about the official looking bar codes and things like member of the BPA on the invoice, they mean nothing.
