    Hi guys,

I've read all nine pages about PE and my wife recieved a parking charge notice in the post a couple of months ago at B&Q which is in Sutton in Ashfield, i know already that this company can't legally enforce their so called PCN, but my wife who suffers from severe Rheumaoid Arthritis is really worried about this bloody fine and she has recieved the £50 then the £80 and today she got a final notice. My wife does not need anymore stress over this because her disease is making her house-bound and spending a few hours visiting a DIY centre was a way of relaxing and seeing what she could buy so her son and daughter could make her home that bit nicer, so you can imagine how she was when she got the first letter.

We no longer go to any B&Q's anymore and she is writing a letter of compliant to the store manager.

We went back to B&Q and told them about this fine and they said the carpark has nothing to do with them as it is owned by PE, when you go into the carpark there are no signs at the main entrance telling you about the time restriction,to the right of the carpark there are no signs visable where we parked and when a B&Q employee showed us the signs we were shocked because they were over the otherside of the carpark and placed about 12 feet up on poles !.

We was at the store for 3 hours and the max' stay was 2 hours !, this B&Q is a SuperStore and is MASSIVE it would quite easily take more than 3 hours to totally look around the store.

The wife made me email them and appeal against [something i didn't want to do] I told them about it all and they sent an email back to me within 1 hour saying the fine must be payed, i told them about that the area was not highlighted with signs, so the wife went to B&Q the next day and photographed the area's where she parked and in the pictures you can clearly see there are no visable warning signs, i had to re-send them ten emails complete with pictures because they kept bouncing back to me and eventually they said pictures recieved and appeal lost all within 5 minutes...golly that was really looked into !!

I still have all the photographs.

A few replies would be nice from you guys to calm down my wife who at the moment is crying and because of this letter today has made her swelling go really bad.

If i could find a direct address to PE i would personally visit them.

Keep up the good work Martin Lewis :T

    Regards.
    ian.
  • Hi all,

I'm a relative newbie here and have been keeping an eye on the Parking Eye threads since i too became one of their victims and have followed all the advice given here.

I received my first letter from Parking Eye at the start of August for a car park in manchester, I have since then received the usual letters with the pretty pictures of my car and the final notice. Today, however, I received a letter I've not really heard of anyone else getting, it's from Harvey Ingram Solicitors claiming to be acting on behalf of Parking Eye. They are now asking for the escalated sum of £120, nearly a weeks wages for myself. The letter itself all seems very legit as does the solicitors company - first thing I did was Google them!

My better judgement is telling me to ignore this letter also and assume they'll eventually give up, but as no one else seems to have received such a letter there's still some doubt there! Advice anyone?

p.s. Just thought I'd share, I've found this website extremely helpful in providing myself with some strong ammunition should push come to shove!

  • I've received a letter from Harvey Ingram today after ignoring 2 previous letters from Parking Eye. The first one i got was in August for parking in Manchester the same as you _emu_, was yours in Bloom Street car park by any chance? they are demanding 120 off me!!!

I wasn't worried up until now - should i just ignore again? Can they send debt collectors around?
  • Harvey Ingram sell a letter before action for £5 + VAT per pop. All that a letter from Harvey Ingram means is that Parking Eye have wasted another £5. Shame!
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!
  • Hi Laura1212,

Yes it was Bloom street car park! Id parked there before without any problems, the barrier wasn't working and everyone else was doing it, its handy because i work at a club opposite the car park. I know a few people that have also now received tickets from parking eye for that car park, its a complete joke!

Im going to carry on ignoring them as suggested!
  • Two weeks ago I received a private parking ticket, through the post, from Total Parking Solutions for overstaying my welcome in a shop car park by 14 minutes. The charge £100, £50 if I paid within 14 days or £150 if i paid within 28 days. The invoice contained the usual threats of court action in red ink. Having read all the advice on this and other web sites I decided to reply to their invoice. I asked for evidence as to who was driving the vehicle in question; I enclosed photographic evidence of the car park showing the lack of signage; I pointed out that their charge was unfair and disproportionate as it would only have cost me £1 to use the nearby council run car park; I offered to provide evidence that I had shopped in the store on that ocassion. In addition I wrote a letter of complaint to the store manager asking him/her to contact the parking company to have the charge waived. I also wrote to DVLA asking for the evidence on which they supplied the details of the registered keeper of the vehicle in question to Total Parking Solutions. I an still awaiting replies from the latter two; but today I received a letter from Total Parking Solutions cancelling the charge. Call me cynical but I suspect they did not have any evidence as to who the driver of the car was. Of course, Total Parking Solutions may simply be a well run company who is willing to listen to reasonable arguments.:T

  • And I thought I was cynical!!
  • The only way they would get their hands on my hard earned cash would have been to take me to court!
