How long do the letters get sent out for? Is there a total number before they give up? Or just periodically every few weeks?

They usually send three - two from Parking Eye and one from CCS Collect. The letters can be viewed in this thread.
  • Well I've had 3 so far:

    1 - The initial invoice.

2 - The one with some tiny poor quality black & white pictures

3 - One entitled FINAL NOTICE saying the next step is to "instruct our debt collection agency to secure immediate payment, commencing court proceedings, through our solicitors, if required."

    Hello peeps

Very interesting reading, I was about to ring and pay the fine tomorrow, but not sure now after hearing about all this.

My situation was that I parked at a non pay & display retail park on the 27th July over the allotted time of 3 hours (I was there for 4 hrs 44 mins apparently leaving the empty car park at 23:15 after going to the cinema) so fair cop, I had done wrong, but I had no news that I had recieved a fine until yesterday (14th Aug) when the 2nd notice was sent out (Never got the first). Sounds like a delay tactic to me, as the letter now says I have 4 days to pay from the sent date which was the 11th, today being the final day and a Sunday!

I was thinking of sending them a letter or a phone call stating that I hadn't been given sufficient notice to appeal etc, and that proper notification had not been sent out, or should I just ignore it? or pay the fine? If this had been done properly I would have held my hands up and forked out the £50, but just doesn't seem right.

    Its not a fine.

Correct, it is a well known tactic to scare you into paying.

I was thinking of sending them a letter or a phone call stating that I hadn't been given sufficient notice to appeal etc, and that proper notification had not been sent out, or should I just ignore it? or pay the fine? Do not under any circumstances enter into correspondence with them, by letter, phone, email, carrier pigeon or anything else. If you contact them it only encourages them to pester you for longer than usual.
See here for the letters to expect..

Thanks a lot, I thought this was the case. Stupid thing is, had they issued me an actual ticket and sent me a first notice, I probably would have ended up paying. I shall ignore, ignore ignore :-)
  • Great site, wish I had searched through in the first place.

Went to pizza hut in Weston super mare on the 27th July, my children were invited to a party, got there saw the other mum, was told to pit my car number plate into the computer in the reception area, did that.

Two weeks later got a letter from Parking Eye stating I over stayed and all that crap, I wroteback stating I was in a party and HAD put my car number plate into the computer.

A few days later a letter arrived the same format as the first, then a few days later a reply from my letter. Alarm bells started to ring, the date on the letter was 10th, it was on the 15th I got it, a day BEFORE I posted my objection!

I was going to reply to them along with a letter of proof from the mother who arranged the party and from other mothers who saw me put my number down on the computer and get in contact with my solicitor.

Then I saw this site, am dithering between just ignoring them from now on despite my acknowledging their letter, or to write back and tell them that through discussions with my solicitor (lie) that further corresponce from them would be viewed as an harassment as defined in S1.1 of the 'Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and I will refuse to correspond with them except in court.

The first letter I had sent was via recorded delivery, should the next one be unstamped with "cheque inside" and let them pay for it?

Lol, my husband is jittery about getting the bailiffs but am certain it's more trouble than it's worth as from my letter I DO have proof to hold up my cAse in court.

  • Hello All,
    It's my first time here!
Had my second letter from Parking Eye today (they say it's my third) and they've changed the letter from the one you have posted. It's a Final Notice. Should I upload a copy - should I start a new thread for that?
They are still threatening debt collection agencies, court proceedings and solicitors along with eventual bailiffs, County Court Judgements and removal of goods.
Just need the reassurance of the Forums that it's still OK to ignore them?
    Thanks

Mere bluster on their part, all empty threats.

    Please keep ignoring
