The cars weren't parked "illegally" because no law of the land was broken and no "crime" was committed. As for preventing unauthorised parking, a barrier would prevent that.

Still doesn't give you the right to park on private land without permision from the land owner, lik I said, how would you feel if people parked in your drive without permision.

I've every sympathy for those that park not knowing they are doing wrong ie no/or poorly signed. But those who do it deliberately should be forced to pay.

Just install a barrier, simple as that.

Unfortunatly it wasn't an option in our case as unobstructed access was needed to the building.

And before you ask about the expense, just look upon it as another necessary outlay, no different to security lighting, burglar alarms, a fence or CCTV.

You wouldn't forgo any of those items, hoping you then could invoice the burglar for the stuff he's nicked.

So leave the entrance and access way to the building unobstructed and have one delivery area (not a marked bay) where the postman or delivery drivers can stop. But put key-operated bollards on the main employee parking spaces, or a key chain across them. Give the employees the keys.

Or have a main gate or barrier but with a swipe key or code so drivers don't even have to get out of their cars to gain entry if they have the swipe key/code (employees only). A dance school near here uses a key code system with a metal gate, it works fine and it does the job, was comparatively inexpensive for the landlord to get installed and has lasted years.

Wrong, no one has any right to park on private property without permision and as long as the area is clearly signed you should not have to go through extra expense just because people can't read, anyone that does park knows what they are doing and deserves a ticket or a bill for parking, we can all read can't we. I fully sympathise where misleading signs are put up so people get caught in a money making scam however in our case this was not the reason, we employed a private parking firm because we were fed up of people using our car park because they were to tigh to pay £1 in the council owned car park. BTW we issued the tickets and sent the information off to the company in question. Why do we have to make places as secure as Fort Knox just to keep out one or two arrogant !!!!! that think they just park anywhere they want.

How much did it cost to employ that security firm? The barriers/bollards are a one-off expense, unlike the security company.
