Parking Eye - Nasty tricks
Comments
-
Having received an invoice from PE, I felt rather smug posting off my letter stating that I was not the driver (template found on website)! However, now that i've read through the posts on this forum I'm thinking i've made a real !!!! up and I should, as you all state, have ignored it!!
What I now need to know, is has anyone else here made my mistake and still not been taken to court? Should I now start ignoring the letters or send Martins next letter telling them not to hassle me?
Help!:o0 -
Don't worry Lovadee, all you have done is confirmed to then that somebody is reading the threats so you will get some more lovely letters.
I doubt Parking Eye will try court again for a while so ignore the letters.0 -
Newbies - Welcome to MSE! :T
The advice in England/Wales has changed - DO NOT IGNORE!!!!
So stop reading this ancient thread and get reading the sticky threads on page one from this year instead!!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You are not in the wrong. You have broken no laws. They cannot use it against you and as it is a free car park the only damages they can claim is.....................nothing!"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

To be honest I should have read the board closer as I thought it was free for blue badge holders but from what I read here it isn't and that there are allocated disabled places only .
I have written an appeal and sent copies of my blue badge and shopping invoices but after reading this forum I am totally lost as to what to do now. My instinct is to just pay as I don't know if I can cope with ignoring court summons etc . I don't know who I am more annoyed with , me for not reading through all the blurp or the company for using threats. One thing I do know is that I shall be avoiding Llandudno in future for the rare shopping treats I have
PS; newbie error I meant to post this in the Llandudno thread
You should have read up on the sticky's and ignored the scammers.
Their MO is that your "appeal" which is a sham is denied, and as you are now late the payment has doubled etc etc. so basically ignore anything they send you from now on
ASDA in Llandudno were obviously on "advice" from their tame scammers TCP to introduce a 2 hour limit, but they have said that they will allow 3 hours after the council steamed in, due to the kevel of complaints from disgruntled shoppers caught out at Parc llandundo and Mostyn Champneys where Parking Eye keep their beady cameras watching the entrances and exits

You won't get a court summons, they'll threaten it but that's just to scare you into paying. By law all the landowner can claim is a "reasonable pre-estimate of the loss caused". I can't remember how much the charges are on Parc Llandudno (I tend not go there in protest since they allowed Parking Eye on site) but they aren't going to spend a small fortune on a court case to recover a couple of quid.
By law it's also unfair to impose disproportionate sanctions for breach of contract so ignore the demand for £80, £110 or whatever it is they expect to scam off you. You've more chance of winning the jackpot on the lottery than Parking Eye have got of winning a claim in court (even if you don't buy lottery tickets).
Have a little read of the guidance from the Office of Fair Trading website. The relevant bit is on page 40.

I too have recieved via the post a PCN notice from Parking Eye for parking 44 minutes over a 3 hour stay in a 'free' car park and my OH has gone to the citizens advice in Lincoln who said they have had a few people in with them and they are advising people to pay them. I have read forums on this subject but now following this advise from CAB I feel even more confused...
How can this company get away with this if its a scam and he is also making a point of going into all the stores saying we wont be shopping there again on the retail park.
Forgot to say the CAB chap said they DO take to court...0 -
This is an old thread, with old advice
NO REPLIES HERE PLEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
CAB don't have a clue about how these things work. Just follow then advice from here and Pepipoo and ignore them from now on."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Talking out of his hat. It is rare they will take you to court, they certainly don't do it as a matter of course and there have been some stunning defeats of the PPC's who have gone as far as going to court."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
