If you have an added value account such as Silver/Gold etc then think about opening an Advantage Saver for the 7k+ overspill. The rate is 1.8% and is a good home for all the interest you're making. There is no upper limit to what you can put in
1.8% is RUBBISH! -and definitely not worth paying for!

There are any number of instant access savings accounts out there paying 2.5% - 2.99% - most with FP in, for your interest - mine goes to Natwest 2.89% - takes abouy 30secs to transfer it.

And no fee is worth it unless you actually want the added value bits.

Get 3 Vantage is quite easy as max 3 a/c is allowed in the T&C.
Just phone or visit the branches they will open 3 simultaneously.

But I have read a few times, some people manage to get more than 3 Vantage A/C under sole name. I can not do it on the phone or Branches. When I tried it online I will be asked to confirm that I am current;y do not have a/c with them in which I do not want to confirm for obvious reason.

3 Vantage accounts running at full tilt will earn gross of around £60 between them, so potential earnings just from Vantage and what you spill into the Advantage would be about £720 over the year, (assuming you're transferring over the interest each month - you have to keep on top of it like CLOCKWORK!).

Ok, you'd have to offset the Account fee in all of this, but just treat this like a monthly bill for the benefits ;)

Just to confirm, the current max is still THREE per customer :D

The fee which Silver, Gold, Platinum or Premier Added Value current account holders pay per month. As the Advantage Saver is only available to those holders.

Not all Silver, Gold, Platinum customers pay a fee for their account. Those with old accounts have the account FOC inclusive of the perks (Travel Insurance, Mobile Insurance, Personal AA cover etc) providing a mininum balance is kept.

I applied for another current account at the weekend and today got a letter through saying they were unable to process my application because I have multiple accounts.

Has anyone else had such a letter and if so did they manage to subsequently apply online for an extra current account?

I should have applied for a couple of months back when they seemed to be less stringent or maybe its because my saver account matured and now i'm a less appealing customer
  • Dunno but I received a letter today asking me to phone my local branch re: my main account! (I have 5 vantage accounts).

Yeah hope so although it does say that they've tried to phone me several times! But the acct they mention has had > 15K in it recently so yes, probably a "what can we flog him" type thing.

I'll ignore it and see what happens :)
