My OH is a non tax payer.

Is it possible to set up the Vantage accounts so that interest is paid gross.?

Yup! Just ask for the R85 form(s).

We opened 3 a/cs at the branch in my wife's name and filled out the R85 forms at the same time.

Is this one employee getting a little over zealous or is this sort of phone call a regular thing with Lloyds/TSB?

I had a similar call earlier this week after I upgraded my virtually dormant current account and transferred around 7k from another bank. I didn't tell them much but they tried hard to sell me some of their other products.

    Cheers

    James.

When I opened my first Vantage in our branch, they opened some sort of savings account as well, something that paid about 0.5% I think.

Later I arranged to send my £7k to the account, and the day before it was due to arrive a young man rang me from the branch.

"I see you are expecting a large payment into your Vantage account tomorrow" he said, "would you like us to transfer it straight into your savings account?"

    Errrr.......no thanks!!

It's certainly what many of us do, from other posts on these boards. I simply set up Standing Orders on the same day from A>B, B>C and C>A and this has never been an issue and the interest has always been paid.

There is nothing in the Terms & Conditions which specifies that the minimum funding has to originate from an external source.

Can you set all of these Standing Orders on the same day or do you have to stagger them so that they are done on consecutive days
(i.e. Day 1 A>B / Day 2 B>C / Day 3 C>A) - My query would be that standing order B>C would only work after standing order A>B has gone through first).

    Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks,
    Neil

Only on one of their credit cards, not current accounts from a quick look.

If using SOs I would not do them on the same day.

Also, although SOs between Lloyds personal accounts arrive the same day, the one I set up from my V1 to V2 account for the 14th did not go until the 15th, presumably because the 14th was a Sunday this month.

Your choice - as I said in my original post "I simply set up Standing Orders on the same day...." and have had no problem. As all have optimum balances, there's no logical reason why one SO should await the arrival of another.

As long as you can fund the SO from the balance, its the end of day balance that is used for interest calculation so there should be no problem shuffling them through on the same day.
