I phoned them this morning and the third account was opened in a few minutes! Thanks for the suggestion.
After going through the application for a third account late yesterday afternoon, as though I was a new customer (it won't let me do it as an existing customer) and me not liking that they ask what your savings are, I cancelled it. At the 'Are you sure' screen, there was an 0800 number to use to apply so I did that and in about 10 minutes (and not having to tell what I didn't want to) they declared the account was open. This morning the account shows online :j

    I recently opened 3 Classic/Vantage A/cs and funded each with £7k.

Today I went online to set up standing orders to move £1k per month thru' the 3 A/cs.

I got a message saying that this was not possible as they were unable to contact me on the number(s) I had given them and that I should ring them to set up the standing order.

Any one else had this experience?

    Cheers,

Yes, if you set up new payments with Lloyds online they telephone you to confirm you are who you say you are. But you do not need standing orders if you are just doing internal transfers. Just log in once a month and it's a few clicks of the mouse. Plus you need to do this anyway if you are running the accounts at £7,000 each in order to transfer the monthly interest elsewhere to avoid getting just 0.1% interest on the amount over £7,000.

When you are setting up the standing order online it tells you the number that they are going to call you on (it's an automated call), you confirm and the phone rings a few seconds later. Check that the phone number on the screen (which will be the phone number you gave when opening the account) is the number you want them to use (normally your home landline).

I am thinking of transfering all my banking here, but don't like to keep swapping accounts for the best rates - how long has Vantage been offering this higher than average interest rate?

I've had my Vantage accounts with them since June 2009, and the rate of 4% for balances between £5k to £7k hasn't changed since then.

If you have an added value account such as Silver/Gold etc then think about opening an Advantage Saver for the 7k+ overspill. The rate is 1.8% and is a good home for all the interest you're making. There is no upper limit to what you can put in it so fill your boots!

3 Vantage accounts running at full tilt will earn gross of around £60 between them, so potential earnings just from Vantage and what you spill into the Advantage would be about £720 over the year, (assuming you're transferring over the interest each month - you have to keep on top of it like CLOCKWORK!).

Ok, you'd have to offset the Account fee in all of this, but just treat this like a monthly bill for the benefits ;)

Just to confirm, the current max is still THREE per customer :D

    What account fee?

The fee which Silver, Gold, Platinum or Premier Added Value current account holders pay per month. As the Advantage Saver is only available to those holders.
