Well I decided to make a start on the front garden and every inch of me is aching now! :o
I have dug out some grass to make a bed round the drive and path to our front door . Moved a large shrub and put it in the new bed ,taken 1 shrub out and given it to my neighbour .Spent another half an hour trying to get another large shrub out but it beat me and I will have to ask dh to try! Then dug it all over at the end of the drive where we already have a lovely little blossom covered tree (which we couldnt see from the house for the shrubs!).
I now have a blister on my thumb too...but never did get those snow drops moved. I think if I can move tomorrow I will do it then and put some in the front!:rotfl:
At least its raining now so I dont have to go out watering anything:D

Well done Bertie :j i`ve been trying to get out in the garden all day but the heavens keep opening :( I`ve been doing the hokey cokey with the washing too)

I did want to start weeding the front garden but haven`t managed to do anything. There are also some beetroot out there in between where the flowers were last year, not sure if they will be ok or not, any ideas anyone?

I moved some snowdrops yesterday and planted some more seeds, kale, raddish and beetroot. Just checked my thermometer and its only 10 degrees !
It was lovely yesterday and had to put my hat on to stop my head burning!.

Is it just me or can anyone else NOT remember such dramatic swings in temperature from one day to the next ,except for the past couple of years!?

Hi all, I'm trying to grow just about everything & so far I'm not doing too bad, I have a small garden & this year bought a plastic 5 x 5 ft greenhouse, absolute rubbish quality and will have to save up for a proper one, but it does the job, I have all my plants out & they're all doing well, if its really cold then i bring in the toms, peppers & cucumbers but other than that its ok. Lettuce & the odd pea pod I'm already having. <<<<<<I have a question though, the other day I found a carrot fly in my greenhouse - should I worry, will one do any harm.>>>>>> I am trying to keep on top of pest control organically, the slugs are enjoying the lager, the snails are fodder for the birds, but for insects - all I have is the soap spray stuff and that doesnt seem to last long

    Hi Kmoneyz,

i`m having a similar problem, my runner beans are in a big tub in the greenhouse ready for planting outside and something has been eating great chunks out of the leaves. I can`t for the life of me find anything crawling around thats doing this and its driving me mad.

Roll on warmer weather and some more sun. I`ve stained most of the sleepers in the garden a dark brown so they all look nice, i`ve 3 more left to do and then thats most of the wood staining done and i can concentrate a bit more on the growing :j

Next day that i get off which is a dry day will see me emptying the composter :j i need to fill my latest raised bed and then i can start some more veggies off :D

Hey just a hint to you all if you have a tear in your plastic greenhouse, plastering tape fixes it brilliantly. Prob expensive if you don't have any but we had some left from renovating and just thought i'd try it, works better than sellotape.

I am beginning to wonder if it will ever warm up! 9 degrees in my sil's garden this afternoon. Well at least my seedlings are inside (and taking up half my kitchen!) I was hoping to have had some things planted out by now but its just too cold!!!
My tomato seeds however have only just started sprouting so here's hoping for an indian summer:D

Just thought I'd say hello to everyone.
I'm fed up here. I've been waiting all week to dig and rotavate the side of my shed and border but all there has been is drizzly days whenever I get the chance. My extension has been taken over by plants that are praying for good weather. At least they are happy where they are at the moment. Oh well maybe tomorrow.

Just to add reading other peeps posts I felt like I wasn't growing or doing much. While having a tidy up in the extension I had a count up of the plants and have made a list of what I've got going. I am aurprised actually at how much I've got, so feel a bit better now.

These are the plants I have

    x 6 Peas (outside)
    x 26 French Beans
x 6 Cougettes (pluse about 10 more outside)
    x 2 tubs Salad Leaves
    x 1 Basil full plant
    x 1 Parsley full plant
    x 71 Peppers 2 types Chillis 2 types
    x 23 Tomatoes
x 1 large tub Potatoes (outside)
    x 1 box Carrots (outside)
    x2 hanging baskets Strawberrys
    x1 Tayberry
    x 20 Sunflowers
    x 40 Sunlovers
x4 unknown (3 are possible chilli or peppers and the other looks a cross between a cougette and a been)
pansies and various bulbs in the garden
Everything is doing great apart from the Tayberry. It was potted up about a month ago outside and is still just a stick. It doen't seem to be putting many roots down either. I now need to get on and sow more carrots as I keep forgetting to do them.
