I am a bit cheesed off!:( My cucumber seedlings are dead and all my tiny tomatoes (3 types) are starting to shrivel . These 2 things -I wanted to grow to save a few bob and now I am going to have to buy them anyway:mad:.
This happened last year....I just dont have any luck growing tomatoes . I wouldnt mind so much if everything hadnt had such a late start but now I am running out of time to try again.
Ahhh sorry folks ,feel better for that!:p I suppose I can use my nectar points and buy some plants from mr s!
The temp on my garden thermometer got to 105 degrees today!! Dont know how accurate it is .............but its a bit warm! .JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

Bertie its not too late to start cucumbers off, i planted mine four days ago and they have their first two leaves already. Think its too late for toms though but i would still start a couple off just in case we have an indian summer.
Today i`ve planted beetroot and swiss chards seeds, put some more plugs of lobelia and a forget-me-not in too, mum brought them over yesterday
I`ve done a good bit of weeding but its really been too hot for anything too strenuous. I did the tennis ball and cane thing to make a frame for the other veg later so that i can net it but it looked terrible and wasn`t very sturdyi`ve taken it back down and think that i shall resort to buying some lengths of wood and a staple gun. Shame really as i wanted something cheap that will take apart easily to store.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -

Must admit my toms are not looking good. The only things in the garden which are not doing well. I guess I might have buy some but the ones I saw in B@Q were nearly £3 each which seemed very expensive for a tight Yorkshireman !"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

My toms were looking great till I potted them into there hanging baskets and hung them in the full sun, so I've took them down and put them in the shade hopefully they'll go back up tomorrow, but I've 2 toms for hanging bakets if anyone wants them otherwise I'm going to have to get another hanging basket and bracket. £3 for a tomato plant is daylight robbery.0

What a great few days we've had with the weather!!! Had very busy three days cutting back and sorting the border out ready to rotavate a bit for some of the veg. OH has a put a lovely curved border in for my top flower bed. Plus managed to get some nice sunburn on my shoulders from the past three days in the garden (amazing to say I never got any colour in aus).0

I was up a 5:30 this morning so went out on a bug hunt while everything was still dewy. Filled up a pot with some slimy critters. Hopefully I got the ones that like to munch my courgettes as there were some fat little suckers (and the next generation of them as well
). I cleared them out, chucked em in bin, then went back and more came out again . Blimey I should get up this early every morning lol.

Thanks jollymummy :Dmy favourite "local" garden centre is Owl Lane in Dewsbury ,they have a great range of plants and trees etc(and I prefer to use independant shops) but their tomoato plants where 90p each and its about a 20 minute drive away -so plus petrol!!.
I saw someone with a sign at the end of there drive a few weeks ago trying to sell them for £1 each:eek:.
As I can get them with my nectar points I think I will still go for the mr s ones;) lost probably 20 plants including plum toms. I was going to give my spares away on freecycle! AH.....Freecycle I can ask there:T:DJAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200
