My area says that it will be enabled in the new year. My mum's says that it should be enabled by Christmas. It would be good for her as she would get the free broadband.

So it's not all areas of Glasgow yet.

How did you find out when your exchange would be enabled?
It said something like "Good news.. you're connected to an exchange we hope to have activated by Christmas" after saying that I could only get the Connect package for now.

...but I don't like the idea of the £40 activation fee with a free £50 wireless router! I don't need another router and would rather have the thing installed for free !
My understanding is that you can install it yourself or use your own equipment. The £50 is if you request them to do it for you. Can't see any way round the £40 - they're not clear about their Migration policy.

I think the installation should be simple enough - I've never had to have someone come and install broadband for me and I'm no computer expert so there's no way I'd pay £50 for installation. As for the activation fee there will be no way round this but if you already have a router take their free router and sell it on or keep it as back-up. No point knocking back a freebie!
    :hello: :hello: :hello:
  • This looks to be a good deal for me. However, only people in certain areas will get it straight away with the rest of the country getting coverage gradually.

I registered my interest and was told my area will not be covered till 2007.

I think there are better deals anyway. I just want one that I can pay for on a month by month basis so that I can pick up one of the talktalk/sky deals when they become available on my exchange. It seems that other companies will soon be able to resell Bulldog (which is enabled on my exchange) so there may be some price drops there which would be of interest.
    To infinity and beyond!

    Main Points are.

Free BB up to 2mb .(2gb usage).Further products available to suit most requirements.

12 month contract. No need to take their phone package.

    12 months Free Security Package.

Free Wireless Router to all customers.

Unlimited Talk Package 24/7 to Geo Numbers £5 a month.

Sky will also start installing BB for £50.

You missed the fundamental point that you must subscribe to sky TV. There's not a chance in hell I'm going to pay for some crap TV in order to get 'free' broadband.
