Sorry to hear this. It's horrible when you care for plants and then loose them when there is nothing you could have done about it. My idea- is it possible to use tent pegs and some kind of line for the soil side. Is there anything these could be tied to on the patio side.
It was awful seeing them all laying there like that, poor things!
I will try the tent pegs fab idea!!
Patio side there is nothing to secure it too but i could pull the garden table up to it of a evening to help keep it in place.
I have 2 standard roses and saw they were being battered and was so worried they would snap i placed my garden chairs up to them to shield them a bit. Now wishing id thought about the greenhouse a bit more.
God only knows where the wind came from last night it was like March winds here in Essex xDebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Any tips on keeping my greenhouse secure? It is on my patio (back legs on earth, front on patio) i had placed heavy pots of stones on the bottom shelf and a bag of compost at the side of the greenhouse which clearly didnt work!!!
can you push tent pegs down the gaps in the patio slabs? I have done this with mine, then I have secured string to these at the front, looped it up and over the top of the mini GH and in my case secured it to the fence, but you could take it down the back and secure to tent pegs in the soil.0 -

I'm having a problem with my French beans. I planted them about a month ago, and initially they grew really well, but then they just stopped. I had trouble with Harlequin ladybird larvae, but they are supposed to eat aphids, not plants, so that shouldn't have stopped the French beans growing. I killed them anyway just in case (they were really creeping me out, they run way too quick) but the French beans still haven't starting growing again. Any ideas what else could be stopping them?
In other matters, everything is growing quite well. First flower opened on strawberry plant, but still nothing on the tomatoes. Cucumbers coming along nicely, and courgettes have buds. Peppers are still quite small, but they are still growing (albeit slowly). I assume parsnips and carrots are going okay, the leaves keep getting bigger! I gave one of my chilli plants to a colleague and he said it looked really good (and he grows chillis most years) so I must have been doing something right!:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. Are you sure they were Harlequin ladybird larvae? Even if you were, the only trouble you would have been having with them, is that they would have been killing off the bad guys on your plants.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Well.. what have I been up to..
Peas - have got pod on, even the ones I left In a pot which are trailing over the kennel at the moment
Courgettes - wow, had little success until now as they kept withering but now I have two in large pots going mad and lots of seedlings.. I am amazed how quickly they grow
Frenchbeans, have started to harvest first ones - have seedlings on the way - tempted to buy another packet of seeds, but am I too late?
Broadbeans - bought from car bootsale in a pot too small for them, carefully separated and they seam to be doing well - very pretty flowers on them
Gooseberries - really should pick some now to cook with - they look amazing
Autumn Bliss Raspberries - gonna have a small harvest off last years canes me thinks. They were cut back but have spouted a little on the canes, new shoots looking healthy
Blueberries - have flowered, now showing signs of fruiting
Strawberries - have got lots of green fruit
Chard - Bought a pot in farm shop, have some in ground which are doing ok, but ones on pots are going bonkers
Runner Beans, slowing getting there and creeping up side of fence
Spuds - oh my, they've just shooted up like mad. How much to I earth them up in ground? They were planted 3" down, and I have earthed up by about 4-5" so far
Squash (provancle?) - Impluse buy from car boot for 50p, got flowers and looking good
Sweetcorn - 3 very healthy looking specimins in ground and lots of seedlings waiting to join them
Purple sprouting broccoli - early and normal, I have lots of very healthy seedlings about 4" tall, have far too many though, so will find homes for them
Black Kale - same as broccoli
Carrots - looking good, wasn't going to do any, but decided I would like them for baby carrots - glad I did now - would plant for but haven't got space at the moment
Spring onions - wow, so tiny for so long, then they just go mad - wish Id sown more earlier on now, but ahve new seeldings popping thorugh
Radishes - been sowing sucessionally and reaping rewards for months
Salad Leaves - best yet - amount we've eaten has saved us a fortune as well as being healthy
Herbs - coriander going bonkers, but since me and my partner aren't the biggest fans, don't quite know why I sowed so many. Parsley, also looking great. Haven't ahd a great deal of success with growing chives from seed but going to try again. Rosemary - have propagated a branch of OH's parents, which is doing well, but really need to invest in an established one. Sage, looking good. Basil, Red and green, looking jolly good, must sow more as I love basil and will use it a lot over summer. MInt, need seedlings coming on nicely - gonna put in a large pot and let it go... Oregano, from a small pot bought at church fete last year, it's grown and looking very healthy and pretty in a hanging basket. Thyme - bought from nursery, looking good, and just about to flower - also growing some from seed. THink that's it
FRont of flat - summer bulbs coming througha nd I have planted wild flower seedlings (from a free packet of seeds) in gaps, can't wait for it to be in full bloom, will look lovely
Tomatoes - 4 tumbling toms, all doing well, and all different shapes - some really bushy, some more spread out. Have 4 other varieties which have been given to me, am upset that one of them is only short and have produced flowers and I can't see where growing tip in - I know I haven't pinched it out, as I only doing on bottom hlaf as it grows so I don't make mistakes - Will leave it and see what happens!! MOst plants have got flowers on now, so eagerly awaiting fruit to start forming
Lots more too, but you're probably bored already!!
Will try and get some pics up soon
So happy I started on this gardening lark, it's ace!!
Oh, and I had a load of seeds arrive yesterday, so have sown them as well (too many to list)0 -
Hi Chimera - got the latest dig-in newsletter yesterday and they said it's not too late to sow more french beans. Was contemplating sowing some more myself but I didn't have much luck with the last lot I sowed so decided against it, but as you're already harvesting then I would say go for it0

not too late for french beans, what sort are they? dwarf crops faster than climbing0

Thanks for all your messages, there are no gaps inbetween the patio slabs i have put some pegs on the earth side and laid a full bag of compost on the bottom shelf. It seems pretty sturdy now!
I`m thinking i wont have it up for much longer now as my 2 tomato plants will be ready to go in the ground, then i will start afresh next year using the greenhouse. I didnt get much done this year as i was moving and couldnt sow anything til we moved.
Luckily i was given a tomato plant the evening it happened so i have to that to look forward too, also have a butternut squash in the ground doing nicely. My salad leaves are in the garden and so are my herbs now.DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j
