Just as a rough guide ... how long did everybody else's seeds take to sprout? Have I killed them off already?

My courgettes have just popped through - potted them about a week ago. Had to re sow as first ones rotted
They look very cute indeed - chunky little things
My french beans took about the same time too0 -
Hi everyone.
Im going to give it a go this yr....as my sig says, trying to avoid supermarkets as much as poss! A trip to a decent green grocer is a couple of miles away, so thought id just give it a go myself! Im sure its brilliant when you grow your own food, and eat it straight fromt he garden.
We have a decent sized patch at the back of our garage that would be perfect, but it doesnt get a lot of sun and i think would be pretty moist. Never mind, will have to use that space for something else. Other than this space, we havent got a lot of room. Looks like we are going to have to use pots now. Can you get a decent amount of food from growing in pots?0 -

The French Beans were very quick to germinate and so too were the courgettes. Not much longer than 10 days or sew...... All are in the greenhouse now and already repotted. This is my first attempt with beans so will be watching attentively!0 -
Hi Kimmee, how long did it take your cucumber to germinate? I sowed some seeds indoors last weekend and I can't see anything (no matter how closely I look!)
Also, can anyone tell me how to tell when tomatoes need potting up? Mine are currently on a window sill in 5" potts, but the tomato plants are about 4" tall at the moment. They seems to still be growing fine, but I don't want to hamper any more growth.
~Look at the bottom of the pot, if the roots are sticking out, it's time to pot them on.
cucumbers will take about 5-7 days in a warmish place. Longer if not in a heated propagator0 -
Hi,
Can anybody tell me what ive done wrong?!?
Ive just potted on (think thats right term) my cherry toms for the first time and a couple of them have wilted over within minutes of moving pots. Have left them til they have 2 lots of leaves with a few sprouting out from these as well as their baby leaves, some are ok but others look kinda floppy! Did it outside in the sun and bit of shade and was bit windy would that be it?
Thanks

Did you pull them out of the pot by the stalk? You should really try and move them by the leaves... it stops you damaging the stalk I think... Other than that I would try not to worry yet... i potted on some peas and they were fine after a day!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790

Hi Antonia - it took about a week and this morning there was one seedling pushing through - when I got home there were 3, amazing :j
I had them in a mini propogator (not heated) but on a very sunny windowsill. Hope your come through soon0 -

Mine did that! You will all probably laugh, but I ended up propping them up again with wire foodbag ties, but I needn't have worried because within a few hours they were all standing proud again.0 -
I would stand them in water so they can have a good drink from the bottom (don't water from the top) and I bet they stand upright again soon!0

It's just tomato plants having a little joke on us, if you just moisten the soil in their new pots, and don't fuss for 24 hours, they will have perked up again. They can be right divas; they seem to be particularly droopy if you pot them from a small space to a large pot - it's always best to increase the pot size by 1 - 2 inches diameter at a time, and soil that has naturally warmed through is much less of a shock to them than cold soil.
In fact for all seed sowing, keep your sacks of compost in a warm place before using it, the seeds will germinate quicker.0
