Ok, I have a new problem, can anyone help please?!
I am a bit uncertain about where to plant things in my raised bed (measures 90" x 30"). As the seeds have to have certain distances between them, im not sure how to plant them.
I have to go in the bed;
cucumbers
sweetcorn
runner beans
broccoli
(all 4 need around 15" each way so can only get 3 of each plant in if the go in lengthways)
carrots
spring onions
watercess
rocket
baby spinach
Does anyone know how I can plant these to fit into the raised bed please?!
Thanks x0 -

My question is, do I cover them with more compost now whilst they are only green shoots or do I have to wait until there are leaves on them or something? Is it as soon as they appear that I need to take action?
Glad to hear you're veg is doing well littleme96. Sorry I don't have an answer to your potato query but hoping that a potato expert will come along and give some advice as I was wondering the same thing!
Hope you managed to revive your tomatoes misskool
Nothing to report really - everything seems to be doing well. Can't wait till I can get my tomatoes outside but think I'm going to wait till mid May. Spent yesterday with my best friend (she lives in London so don't see her as often as we'd like) - we went to a pub on the river for lunch then spent a happy few hours at the garden centre. I've really caught the growing things from seed bug and bought a few packets of flower seeds all of which I'm going to sow today - happy days0 -
littleme96 I've just read this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2426263
which gives the info you were after regarding your potatoes.

Thanks kimmee! Will wait a little while then - exciting! :j0 -
carrots
spring onions
watercess
rocket
baby spinach
Watercress needs a lot of shade- does not like direct sunlight at all and saying that neither does rocket as it invites bolt.
I have got both of these on the shaded patio now ie not in direct sunlight I might even bring the watercress inside as i fear it will get scorched.
Depends what spinach you have I have perpetual/ chard and its going ok in sunlight but I will move it to a slightly shaded area later. iam in containers though so I can shuffle around at whim. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Just read this, thanks for the link by the way and it looks like i've been earthing them up wrong. My potatoes are in bags/pots and as soon as a little shoot shows its head i've been covering them with about an inch of compost.........does anyone know if i will still get a decent enough crop, i really hope so as i have 7 bags on the go, all at different stages. I would hate to have wasted all that compost and seed potatoes for no results.
My carrots seem to have stopped growing, as do the spring onions, i'm not too worried though they've still got plenty of time shoot up.
I picked my first lettuce leaves last night, i can't believe how tasty they were compared to shop bought ones. :j0 -
