As its been a while since I gave notice, I can't remember whether I have to arrange an appointment in the month before the wedding to give them anymore information?
I was given a form to fill in with questions about the set up of the wedding so wondered if this is what they wanted back. Then, according to what I've read on this thread, I have a meeting with them right before the ceremony, is that right?
Sorry if its daft. I should have written it down as soon as the Registrar told me.
How long til pay day?

Normally reg offices only provisionally book a date and time for a specific amount of time (say a month for example), so you better hurry and get it booked/give notice properly! xTrying_really_hard wrote: »As its been a while since I gave notice, I can't remember whether I have to arrange an appointment in the month before the wedding to give them anymore information?

When we were going to get married at our venue, we would have had to go to the reg office for a meeting a couple of weeks before the date, to pay and give info (readings, music etc).
Now we're getting married at the reg office, we don't need to go back. We just go on and pay on the day/hand music over etc.
If you can't remember, just give them a call and they will tell you what you need to do xTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Hmmm....as a divorcee who kept her previous married name, do I sign in my old married name as the name in which I gave notice? I've had that longer than I had my maiden name now

My question is. We've put a deposit down on a venue to get married on 23rd sept 2011. It's over a year away so we can't yet give notice yet but what happens if we go to give notice and it's already booked?:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

Ring the reg office and ask them if they can pencil you in for the your date and ask them when the very earliest is that you can go to give notice.
If they aren't taking booings yet for your date, ask them when they will be doing this.
We were pencilled in for our date a month before, the year before, if that makes sense? lol (Getting married Oct 10, gave notice Oct 09, but were pencilled in Sep 09)Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Either - they will let you be pencilled in then go and give notice nearer the time.
Or - they won't let you get pencilled in (and hopefully no one else either) then book your appointment to give notice for 9am 23rd Sept 2010. That way you should be guarenteed your slot. And unless you are in a village with a tiny registry office there should more than one slot in a morning.Bump due 22nd September0 -

If they want to get married on the 23rd, they'd give notice at the earliest on the 24th.
I only know because I tried to book to give notice on the 2nd Oct 09, but we were told if we did that, it would run out on the 2nd Oct 10, which would be no good as that's they day we want to get married.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
