Ring the bank & report your card as stolen NOW - be honest and tell them the last time you used it,but that you now cannot find it. They will (should) freeze the account which will stop any further o/d building.0 -
You need to both sign a form at the bank to agree your name gets taken off itchristmas_carole wrote: »could I take my name off the account over the phone?0 -
Btw - is he a little younger than you? He sounds like he is quite immature and conversationally impaired (that's me being nice)

Hi Louise,
He is 3 years younger than me but yes he is immature in a lot of ways. We have been together 2 and a half years.
Promised me the world and never came through for me in any of his promises.
Feeling really sick now.0 -

No. Whilst the account is overdrawn they will not let you take your name off it at all.
You need to be aware that as long as it is open, you are financially linked and if he has a crap creit record it adversely affects you. So get it paid off, closed and a note of disassociation on your credit record ASAP.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I'm trying not to judge here, but I just wonder why so many women seem to take on men with debt?
You see it all the time on here, mostly when they start having problems and that's usually over money.
Is it that they are very good looking or something, so you go all weak at the knees and give in to their charm?
I wouldn't want to take on a woman with debt, but I suspect if I met one and thought I fell in love, I might overlook it and have rose tinted glasses on. I might have answered my own question.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
hi, re facebook, i told two girlfriends to add me, and they couldn't find me. there had been some new changes to the security system and by mistake i had selected mine so that my profile could only be searched for by facebook friends - which kind of defeats the object as if they are a friend already they dont need to find you! that could be an honest mistake, but his lack of openness about what he was looking at on his laptop would have my alarm bells and sirens wailing.
dont waste any more time worrying about this guy and what he has done in the past. secure yourself. make sure he hasn't used your address for any finance etc, and move on.
you're a strong woman. good on you!0 -
Get the joint account sorted out asap before the bank charges start racking up. As it's a joint account both of your are responsible for clearing the overdraft, if he won't you will have to.
Someone suggested telling the bank you've lost your card. You might as well do that, because the card's no use to you just now. Best wishes (and glad I was of help last time ).................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
the only reason he wanted to hide the lappy from you is that he has something to hide!!0

That is unkind.
Just because man is in debt doesn't make him bad person.
Only if he gets nasty about it - that makes him veeeery bad person.
I took on man with debt and he gave me full control of his finances because he knows he is rubbish. If he didn't do that I wouldn't be with him.0 -
I'm not sure if cancelling the cards is the best solution, in theory he could turn up at the bank with proof of ID and might be able to convince them to let him take more out / increase the overdraft.
I am sure you can do something along the lines of either freezing the account or saying that all debits have to be signed for by both of you as a short term solution to prevent him from helping himself.
Sounds like you are well rid, hope you are ok. Spend some time with friends / family and forget this loser and trying to find him on facebook xx0
