I do my turkey drumsticks in the slow cooker, the meat falls off the bone, I manage to get more meat off them this way rather than roasting.0

I simply put a bit of water in the base of the pot , about half an inch, and add a chicken stock cube, placing the turkey leg chunky side down. It often only just fits into the pot depending on how long it is. I tend to cook it on low for about 7 hours. It's nice cheap meat for sandwiches.

Thanks, i think I'll try that. Nice big bone for stock later too :rotfl:0 -
I'm cooking one tomorrow - I'll put it in the slow cooker with some leftover sauce from a chicken casserole. I'll probably use the bone to make stock with the bendy carrot from the bottom of the fridge0

I bought a leg of this for £1.49, seemed like a bargain, but now I've heard that it can taste dry and horrible when you cook it.
I've never cooked it before, it's already got herbs on it and the packet just says to roast for 1 hour 20 minutes. Can anyone give me any tips so I don't ruin it?0 -
Cheers, thanks for that. No one seemed to like it, so it probably won't get eaten now. Took a while to persuade bf to even try it. Oops. I've give it a go though, don't have a slow cooker, so will have to make do with the plain ole oven.0

Those jumbo turkey drumsticks are great value although I wouldn't want to meet the bird it came off in a dark alley on a Saturday night. LOL
I marinade one in lemon juice, garlic and honey and then roast on a rack and serve on a bed of cous cous which I have flavoured with lemon juice and peel and roughly chopped mint tossed through with some chopped fired onion. Really easy mid-week fayre but jazz up the presentation add a green salad and some oven roasted cherry toms and you've got a passable dinner party course.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
I love these, but like most cheap cuts, they're best if cooked slowly and in some kind of liquid/sauce, so slow cooking, braising, casserole or stew work much better than roasting.0
