Thanks Pink for the merge magic:D.
Looks like the SC is the way forward.
I can certainly sympathise with those who have had difficulty in removing the meat. When I roasted some it took ages to strip them down and there was loads wasted.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Hi all
I was having a browse round Asda in the meet section and spotted the SP turkey leg for £1.27. It's huge but I wondered how much meat is on it and whether anyone has ever cooked one? I was thinking I could pop it in the slow cooker to make a stock and take all the meat off for use in a pie etc. OR I could roast it for a roast dinner then put bone etc ins low cooker for stock and take off meat remnants that way. If there is quite a bit of meat on there it would seem a bargain price and potentially provide at least two meals for 2ppl at such a cheap price!
Thanks

I have cooked one in the slow cooker, I didn't add liquid but I put some butter and some herbs and spices on it and it was really lovely.0

I imagine it would be good for pies. I would stab it all over with a fork, remove the skin and simmer it in the smallest pan it will fit into (half covered with water, turn half way through). That should keep the meat moist. Then use it for pies, etc.0

I cook turkey legs in the slow cooker. A pop half an inch of water in, and some bay leaves and onion and it turns out lovely. We cut some meat off to make a Sunday roast type meal and the rest is picked off for another meal or for sandwiches. They are good value and you get stock as well by doing it in the slow cooker.Enjoying an MSE OS life0

I have cooked them beforein the slow cooker, I just added a tin of Tesco Value sweet and sour sauce.
It was a nice cheap meal and I got loads of meat from it.0 -

I do mine in the slow cooker in a little water too. To ring the changes it makes a surprisingly decent alternative to duck with hoisin sauce and pancakes!0

I use them for very cheap Sunday-roasts-for-one. Usually enough left overs for two or three meals!0

I couldnt fit mine in my slow cooker - was too long!
So I rubbed oil on it,sprinkled some herbs on and roasted it in the oven. It was delicious with enough meat on it to have a roast dinner and the rest went into a turkey and veg soup which had been the original plan using the slow cooker.
Can highly recommend the Asda one.0
