    Hi,

I have just bought a turkey drumstick for no reason other than it was cheap! I thought maybe I could turn it into a nice hot lunch for tomorrow at work.

Is there something like a nice stew or slow cooker curry I can make with it? Never bought one before so a little nervy about it!

    Thanks

Anything you would use chicken thighs for you can use turkey drumstick - curry, pie, soups etc

Look at Jamie's turkey and leek pie - one of my fav dinners

You can even roast it, add stuffing, roasties etc and you have a roast dinner for two

Thanks Pink - have read through the thread and think I will put it in the slow cooker first and then do something with the meat once its tender!!!

I recently deboned one for turkey tikka for the freezer and there was a lot of meat but at the end of the day I am not sure the work involved warranted it! I think the rolled boned joints I bought at a reasonable price on Christmas Eve offered better value and lean, easily used meat and I don't like turkey stock so would be of no use to me with the drumstick.

I regularly buy turkey legs from my butcher and use the meat for turkey and bacon casserole - turkey meat, chopped bacon, onion, carrot chunks, baby mushrooms, chicken stock, little bit of honey and soy sauce, then some cream right at the end. Nom nom nom :D

  • If you don't like roasting, I'd suggest stewing it.

I've added your thread to our existing one on cooking turkey drumsticks. Hopefully you will find some inspiration here.
