BTW, have you any idea how disgusting a tomato based cooking sauce would taste without the alcohol being cooked off?

I think we should stop the till bod every time something in the 'alternatively alcoholic' list goes through and ask if they are old enough to SELL them; and insist on ID being shown to us to ensure that they are not breaking any laws.

If you read the links UK2010 posted, they both just say photo driving licence - there's no mention that it needs to be full, rather than provisional.
Lots of people seem to be saying provisional licences aren't acceptable... is there a source for that?
A provisional licence is not a driving licence and therefore is not covered on the list.
As for the person who questioned about the fact that both parts of the licence would be need you are totally correct. To be a full form of ID both the the paper and the photo card would be needed. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
How did shops manage over the festive season? Just think of all that rum sauce and brandy butter .... Must be a new rule, I don't remember seeing huge queues at the tills while they asked everybody for ID:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

That's interesting; I've never heard it put like that before. I had always thought a provisional was a driving licence of sorts - just one which only permits you to drive under supervision. Why is a provisional licence not an acceptable form of ID? I had to prove my identity when applying for mine...
If a provisional licence isn't covered on the list, why do so many retailers accept it? I have never been turned down anywhere - including large national chains like Sainsbury's, M&S and Morrisons.0 -

Because the people doing the training just presume that it is included. I do not know why it isn't included but have been told that it is due to the fact that they do not do the all the ID checks until you apply for your driving licence after passing you test.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
Regardless of who lists them there are forms of ID deemed acceptable.

Trading Standards and the council seeing one issues the license and the other monitors the sellers hold enough weight to justify using their acceptable forms of ID.
Are you still flogging this dead horse?
Tell me which of these are required forms of ID under the Licensing Act 2003, then.0
