99.9% sure I'm going for this phone.
My original plan was to buy it as a sim free handset only and currently play.com offer the cheapest way of doing this. I even have a credit card on it's way with 0% interest on purchases for 10 month, because that way I could spread the cost without paying any interest.
My contract with O2 finished last month and I didn't know they were going to be doing this phone. Rather than upgrading and getting a phone I didn't want, I have moved to one of their monthly contract, where you keep the same phone, but only 30 days notice needed and I save £17 a month off my bill.
If I decide to go for this phone on a contract, will they want to charge me top dollar, cause I am on a month to month contract now, albeit only started this month, instead of upgrading straight from an 18/24 month contract?0 -

Incidentally my Brother rang T-Mobile over getting this handset and quoted what Vodafone had offered him - 600 mins, unlimited texts and internet with free phone and they could not manage to meet it. Especially not with the £150 cashback from Quidco.
So another customer lost from T-Mobile.
Incidentally if you look at the Desire on £30 a month T-Mobile contract lasting 18 Months, they actually want £380 for the handset. This is stupid. You can buy it SIM free for £387 from Handtec and £399.43 from Amazon!!!!

Edit: The £380 price is so laughable I rang up as a prospective customer and was told over the phone it was £380. I said did you know you can buy it outright for £387 from Handtec or £399.43 from Amazon and then go on a 30 day contract. I then asked how much the handset subsidy was in that tariff and they hung up. Hahahah ROFL.
hope this is right as one of them coming into stock will be mine, been waiting a while now0 -

Excellent! but will they let you have one? I wasn't able to get onto 3 last night (other commitments) but I did talk to a friend of mine who was looking for a similar Desire deal. He now has his Desire on a 24 month contract at £18.75 per month, 500 mins, unlimited texts & internet (1GB), free handset :T0 -
do you know what data allowance your friend has on orange
If you go on the Dolphin plans then it is capped at 500 mb. On the Panther plans it has a FAIR USEAGE of 750 mb. This is not a cap and you will not be charges if you go over. I also have a phone with Orange and used over 2 GB a couple of months ago with out any problems.0 -

Are you already with three?
As i said earlier, they told me that the desire was only being offered to new customers atm, not existing ones :mad:0 -

a few hours later another chap calls up saying they have 'a few' handsets and willing to give it to be but for a higher price than agreed and will be 25£ a month on each handset and they were getting some more handsets on 28th. Trying to con me into changing the deal 12 days after the order was placed with confirmed delivery dates. I refused to have my previous order ammended by them unilaterally. Anyway i havent heard back from the three team after my email to them (they contacted me after my frequent rants! in the last few days with them on this issue).
I later saw in the evening on their blog that they are getting delivery of more handsets. Will wait and see today before i send a letter to head office asking for a subject access request etc etc etc. They havent seen the last of me. I might have to leave but who ever goofed up with my orders will regret it as i will take it up with their head office and anywhere else i can take this. waste of time yes, but i am !!!!ed off with them for the way they handled this over the 2 weeks this has been going on.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
So then bubblesmoney, they were obviously lying to me when they spun me that line
Ive been with them since they first launched and have been really happy with them up till now.
I gave my 30 days notice and they accepted it no prob so they clearly aren't bothered about keeping customers.
Off to virgin I go then ............0 -

Now that T-Mobile have pulled the plug on the low-end tariffs for the Desire. Do you think that they will honour the 3GB allowance for Android phones if I buy from a third party? Can they not simply turn around and say that this tariff is not for Android phones, so tough!
I just rang them and the lady I spoke to didn’t know the answer but I’m hoping someone here might…..0 -
I'm on the dolphin 25 and was concerned about the 500mb cap, so i mailed orange and got this reply
"Thank you for your query dated 26/04/2010.
The unlimited mobile internet package that you are due to start does have a fair usage policy of 1gb per month, However if you were to exceed the 1gb fair usage we would not start to charge you straight away we would advise you by letter that you were exceeding the fair usage policy.
I have not know anyone to date to be charged for this as it would be difficult to use the full allowance unless you were using the telephone as a modem to download content.
I hope this information has helped with your query.
