You'd probably have to pay like £350+.

Just to back up what the Vodafone rep said about the 500MB fair use policy, I have an HTC Hero with Vodafone and have on several occasions downloaded files in excess of 4GB on it. I have never had to pay any extra or been called by anyone about it.

how did you manage to use 4gb on a phone. now am really wondering wehether tmobile is the best option for the desire rather than 3. three T&C says will charge for more than 1gb usage i think

Just been on the buymobilephones.net website and they have removed all the £15 deals. However, I found a link in my emails with the £15 deal and it lets me add it to my basket and I can get to the payment page, do you think they will honour the deal if I put it through? I tried calling them but they are shut and I am panicking because I delayed the £10/month deal and that wa pulled and now this!!

Also, just to clarify, buying through a third party only gives a 1GB allowance but you can get this upgarded to the standard 3GB just by ringing them up and explaining?

those of you have got the handset already might need this recent software update released by htc to access some features which isnt enabled otherwise

see link on htc website http://www.htc.com/uk/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=312&act=sd&cat=all

see the other advice there for desire owners.

some might find these geekanoid videos useful about the desire http://www.geekanoids.co.uk/reviews/tag/htc

i am not sure if this contains the video how to update the googlemaps software to get multitouch in that. but there was a video on youtube showing how to do this and improve the functionality of googlemaps.

hope others update any links for any nice apps / widgets for the desire as well

Just a note to the above and those of you on Orange, my phone is setup for wireless at home and in my office.

Whilst on the train this morning I browsed this thread, bbc news and another forum for 10 minutes. At lunch, I wandered round to the local shop, my phone used 1.5 meg just sat in my pocket! On the way home I did was browsing for perhaps 10-15 minutes, mainly reading a static page on various laws following a google search.

I'd say today my use has been low as I'm preparing for an exam and reading my work whilst quickly checking the news or a case.

Why am I babbling? Well Net Counter tells me today I used 18.80MB. If I continued with my little browsing, no use of youtube or opening of attachments, then I'd use 376MB.

    The 500MB seems very low.

Whoever said that mail app was awful they were correct - it doesn't filter the spam out its not good to use - never mind will just have to view my e-mails at home on my iTouch.

Apart from the mail app everything else is good battery doesn't appear to be too bad (diamond was awful some days it needed charging twice!) yet but i'm working M-F 9-5.30 so for the majority of the day its not in use....

Have downloaded a game called Trap - i'm fairly certain there used to be a windows game similar to this (obv far better on a PC!) but its good for killing time.
Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos

I've had mine since friday night and i've used 48.04 mb - i've turned everything off - stopped things from being constantly refreshed, and i've add the widget for turning the net off its under Mobile Network - v useful if you use both wifi and 3g. The app i'm using is 3g watchdog.
