Many thanks for this - I have (after a few attempts) managed to get this deal as well. They were unable to increase it to 1Gb I/C at that price, but I think that I can live with the 500Mb limit.
Needless to say it took 3 calls, and then the retentions team ot call me with my PAC code and then matc the above. The phone should be with my Mon - Weds - Now the question is, can I trust VF...:D
Needless to say, it's Wednesday and I am not in possession of the phone that I was told would be with me.
Called up and was told that it is out of stock.
!!!!!! did they say that I should receive it by today then??
VF - the incompetency is incredible...... :mad:One day I want to be the pigeon...... and not the statue!0 -

Here's a brief combined post from another thread on this joke of a company...I was promised a phone last Friday.Hefferlump wrote: »After seemingly months of calls about my old contract with Vodafone, I received, firstly:
About six weeks ago an £80 credit to my account and the contract I wanted (SIM only) until the HTC Desire came in.
HTC Desire now in and offered
18 month contract, £30 per month including VAT
600 anytime minutes
Unlimited texts
1Gb of mobile internet data
HTC Desire free of charge
£20 accessories credit
£45 credit (in lieu of 16Gb memory card as none available)
Deal or no deal?Got that in writing? Sounds to good to be true unless they can back it up by text/email. I've been with them for nearly 8 years and can't get a decent deal out of anyone at Vodafone on a Desire. I'm currently on £35/month for 600mins and unlimited txts, want the same talk plan with the 1gb data for £30 over 18months and they won't budge- only on a 24 month plan. This is despite me regularly having a higher spend with them (some months earlier this year were £80-odd due to being abroad). There seems to be zero recognition for customer loyalty at vodafone!Hefferlump wrote: »Well, the good news was that I DID get it in writing, via email. In addition I was going to get a spare SIM as well:beer: :T
Sadly (and I am sure other Vodafone users can guess where this post is going) since then it has been all downhill
Having been promised a delivery of the phone and the SIM card the following day between 8.00am and 10.00am I had to break the news to the Missus that she couldn't have a lie in as I had to travel out of town and was leaving at 6.00am.
So, as I headed Oop North the following morning I got a text just after 7.30am saying that my delivery would NOT be arriving and I would get another text, at some stage, saying when I would do. Within 5 minutes I got another text saying my delivery would arrive between 8am and 10am :j.
I couldn't speak to the better looking half of my relationship until lunchtime. I rang her.
"Has it arrived?"
"Well, a package did arrive in a package measuring two feet long by 1 foot wide."
"Great, the phone", I said
"No, just the SIM card!!", she said (sure enough, in the biggest waste of carbon they sent a SIM card in an envelope I could hide a small South American country in!).
Cue dictation to Mrs H of a stroppy email to vodafone. Cue, a couple of hours later, a call from my friendly Vodafone guy at Web Relations saying he was just as exasperated as I was and had sworn as often as I had done (I bet he hadn't) and he would do his best to sort it out and there may be one in my local shop that he was trying to source and he was in on Saturday and would keep me informed and, anyway, as he had said they were due another delivery in on Monday so one would definitely be sorted......
...this morning, as I had heard nothing further  I emailed again. Apparently, bless him, he had been out of the office and couldn't contact me (but was in on Saturday and must have been in today but, hey, why should I split hairs) and there was nothing that could be done.
So, the moral of this story is don't believe them when they tell you something over the phone; don't even believe them if they stick something in writing. I am tempted to say to you don't even believe it if you get a phone delivered as it will probably be a mirage! Frankly, this once excellent company has gone down the pan and I can well understand everyone's frustrations. Strangely, however, the only rep who has delivered on his promise (he got me my £80 credit into the account) is the much maligned (on here) Tom! :rotfl:
PS
Just checked my email and Vodafone are now thanking me for renewing my contract!! They really are a joke now!0 -
Hefferlump I hope your considering about asking for some credit for the time you are without the phone0

Just spoke to T-Mobile, they said I am on a monthly 3GB (fair use) allowance, but that seems to be via a booster? So trying the Speedtest app (Xtremelabs) and I get :
Download: 215.4 Kbit/s
Upload: 23.9 Kbit/s
Not very consistent responses from T-Mobile, Twitter team says tough, you bought from Carphone Warehouse so you only get 1GB. Speaking to them direct, they say I am on 3GB.... which is it?
Thats the speeds I get and they say I'm on the 3gb package...0 -

My phone arrived on Thursday, 6pm.
Now I gotto get to grips with it!!!!! (without exceeding the 500Mb quota)

T-Mobile called me earlier, follow up to the email I sent last weekend. They apologised for the mixup and said I should be on 3Gb package with a flexible booster. They transferred me over, and now when I run a speed test I get 1,250 kbit/s so a huge difference.
I would call T-Mobile again, first time I called they said I was on 3GB but quite clearly I was not.0 -
Well done on getting it sorted Smash. It's a pain we're all having to jump through hoops to sort it out though.
The higher speed certainly makes a difference. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
You can now get the Desire SIM free in Silver! Isn't shipping with Froyo yet though
Maybe I should have waited...
