Someone on Freecycle just gave OH a big box of used wine bottles, which is great as we are just about to bottle up the 2009 blackberry wine.

They are a few quid if you buy new empty bottles from wilko's

    OH is chuffed

My OH got fed-up with me complaining I coulnt reach stuff in the top cupboards in our kitchen so when he saw someone was offering a tep stool on F.C. he got it but it was in a bit of a state so I sorted it with some left over fabric, paint and clear varnish and it went from this http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac266/hart4334/th_stepstoolbefore2.jpg

    to this http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac266/hart4334/th_stepstool2after.jpg

I love charity shops and F.C. and can usually find loads of useful money saving things.

I only have to look at something and I picture it changed into something useful or painted prob the reason why I cannt throw anything away (not even the dogs food boxes, covered the make good storage holders) :)

  • A friend gave me a copy of a book today that I had been looking for for ages, which was very kind of her, and she didn't want it back.

My foster son brought home bags and bags of material from his mentor at the weekend. I'm a bit carp at sewing but I think I will try to make some patchwork cushions to give to people as Christmas presents.

Still haven't worked out where we're going to store it all!:rotfl:

Here's the Welsh Dresser hubby made using mostly recycled wood ( mainly picked up off the beach)

I can't find the photo of the oak table and bench at the moment

  • Really enjoying this thread, thanks OP.

DD and I blitzed the charity shops today and got some great bits. We needed some new side plates and managed to get 6 meakin plates for £2.49 and 10 Johnson bros plates for £2.99 which I've just noticed are selling for £4 each on ebay! Also a lovely new John Lewis double duvet cover and pillow cases for £5 and 9 horrible science books in a case for £3 for DD. Oh, also a lovely per una cardi for mil's birthday for £2 (I will add something to it!). All in all, very pleased.

Good luck on the sewing. I'm sure you'll be fine and everyone will love your cushions. Sometimes my knitted items are 'imperfect' but they seem to be more loved than any shop-bought things.
