I got some bargains in the RTC section of our local Co-op this evening - all down to 10p, so there's ham for the dog, a pastie for DH's lunch tomorrow and a tub of whipping cream that will be splendid with the meringues I made earlier in the week :)

A "new" brolly from freecycle- much appreciated after the rain we had today. An old gardening mag that a friend passed over to me and two back issues of Country Living that someone had discarded.

I had to take some old rotten wood to out local council recyle centre and while dumping into the massive skip for wood I noticed, in the plastics one next door, a couple of strips of plastic edging for laminate flooring, perfect for my kitchen. I asked the chappie looking after the place if I could have it, he said " If you can reach it, you can have it":D Now these skips are like sugmerged basins with big rails all round them. It's a big reach for a wee woman and I am very very wee. The first I managed to reach by half hanging over the rails but the other was just out of my reach. I was at a loss as to how to get it when a huge burly fella drew up and started chucking tons of stuff in. There was nothing else for it, I put on smile and brass neck asked if he would pull the other strip out for me. He did and spotted another so got that for me to:D What a star:T

Today I managed to break the clip which holds my vacuum extension tube on . I checked to see how much a replacement tube would be - £67.99 :eek::eek:. So I tootled off and bought some elastic bands for £1, wrapped the strongest one round the clip on the tube and voila £66.99 saved - and dozens of elastic bands left over for future use :rotfl:
