My OH has never been very good with things like that, it took him all day to fix the back gates once and they only needed a few screws in!And I don't think he's ever managed to saw a piece of wood straight, if you think of the spice rack Homer made on The Simpsons it gives you some idea of my OH's woodworking skills. :rotfl:

That's beautiful, your OH is very talented. Does he make things to sell? People would pay a fair bit of money for good quality hand-made furniture.

LOL! Usually if they're rubbish at woodwork, they have talents in other areas don't they?
My OH makes loads of recycled stuff and they usually turn out beautifully. I'm very lucky to have him:D He prefers to make things for family and friends for free, but what goes around, comes around and we often receive some treasures from unexpected quarters, or family share their skills to help us in other ways.0 -
budgeteer - wow that dresser is amazing!!! Sadly my H has any skill in that sort of capacity.
My best finds lately:
a nearly perfect white fairy dress outfit (complete with the wings) for my kids dressing up box.
OK still spending money but a second hand as new Ikea Trofast storage unit complete with the plastic drawers for £35. retails brand new in Ikea for £79 eek!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Love this thread!
AS an avid Jumbler/car booter/charity shopper/freegler etc most of the things we use are either very cheap or free.
My most recent freebie - my youngest wanted me to read Dr Dolittle to him (which we don't have a copy of) but he didn't want to wait till we made our weekly trip to the library. So I found it as a free downloadable e-book online. Very pleased and he's absolutely loving it - even though we're both used to reading actual books rather than off a computer screen.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

I love this thread too - glad I thought of it:rotfl:
I'm so interested in all the great frugally finds that come people's way. A downloadable Dr Dolittle is great. Hope he loved it.0 -
So do I budgeteer. Downloadable books.GREAT. its just a matter of changing habits and remembering things. Latterly I have decided to say "How can I make this do twice?" Stretching meat with lentils or barley or veg,meat-free days, washing and reusing freezer bags, patching and mending things, searching freecycle for stuff, taking plant cuttings instead of a trip to the garden centre.Using cash instead of cards.BTW I cancelled and cut up my Barclaycard this morning.great feeling."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0
