Really enjoying this thread, thanks OP.
DD and I blitzed the charity shops today and got some great bits. We needed some new side plates and managed to get 6 meakin plates for £2.49 and 10 Johnson bros plates for £2.99 which I've just noticed are selling for £4 each on ebay! Also a lovely new John Lewis double duvet cover and pillow cases for £5 and 9 horrible science books in a case for £3 for DD. Oh, also a lovely per una cardi for mil's birthday for £2 (I will add something to it!). All in all, very pleased.
Well done on that lot:T I'm always on the look out for nice bedding and don't often find any0 -
I was given a big pile of good condition teatowels by my Mum yesterday as she'd bought some new ones. It's given me the chance to demote my tatty ones to line my kitchen drawers rather than using kitchen paper.

Went to the dentist on Friday to have a loose crown re attached and he didn't charge me.
Left the dentist in time to get home and make lunch for work - so didn't have to pay for sarnies.
Then after work was the postponed (due to snow) xmas do, so food and drink for free ( the bosses pay).
Mr went to an astronomy meeting and someone he gave some bits too ( he got the for free from telescope shop skip - with permission) gave him a mount (some the same selling on ebay for £75!) for a scope.
Nothing since then - think we had a weeks worth in one day anyway.Put the kettle on.0 -
My mum is getting a new kitchen and give me the units of her old kitchen which is exactly the same as mine. She's like that, she changes stuff for the sake of it and is never happy with what she has! I now have a wall of extra units and drawers and my kitchen looks as though it cost quite a lot of money. Found cream paint never used and re-painted as well. Just on the prowl for cheap red accessories to finish it off!!0

On my visit to the supermarket today, I noticed a 'boot jack'. A plastic thing-y that you can stand on one end and use the other (pronged) end to pull off your wellies. I nearly, nearly bought it because I wear wellies every day to walk the dogs and they're always muddy and hard to pull off.
But I decided to wait and have a think about it rather than impulse buy. Also it was yucky plastic rubbish:p
I told hubby about it briefly and he said 'Oh I can make you one of those - hang on' Within half an hour, he'd whipped up a beautiful boot jack from recycled wood that works perfectly. I saved money and resources and have a boot jack that could become a family heirloom:D
I'm so glad I didn't buy the plastic one.
Keep your stories coming on this thread - they're great:T0 -
