Hubby had a good day yesterday, he went to our local auction place and bought a really nice oval cast iron casserole pan (not le creuset) for £2, it's pretty grubby inside but it'll clean up. Plus he got a wooden kitchen trolley for £7. We've been looking for one for a while but they usually go for more money than we want to pay!Piglet

Do tell us more HH, where from, freebies or cheap?
re my shelves,2 fit perfectly either side of DS1 bedroom window,so will be fixed to wall this weekend when DH has the time, and then DS1 will have a shelf for a lamp and one for his trophies. the other 2 are for DS2, but one is a ilttle bit too long for the space so will be cut down and fitted at the weekend too. He will then have book shelves. I'm really, really pleased."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
At the charity shop yesterday I found a play mat with detachable stuffed animal faces that attach to the pictures of the animals with soft velcro and make the animal noises when pressed. It is from the Early learning Centre and they let me have it for £3.50 - it is like new! It will go with my stash I am building up for my preggy best friend along with a couple of pieces of clothing for 50p. (i have promised myself that I will not buy anything full price unless it is from charity shop/pound shops etc - so far only broken that vow once).
While I was chatting to the SA after getting my change, I saw a beautiful light yellow and orange fleece baby blanket in a pile waiting to be sorted behind her - she pulled it out to show me and gave it to me for £2.50 - again it is like new! It is a cot blanket, quite large and will work as a snuggly throw on a single bed once the child gets bigger.
I was really chuffed, as I am finding it akward to buy gender-neutral clothing and accessories for the baby. My friend wants a surprise, which is lovely, but baby will be dressed in a lot of white, green, yellow and beige! (Though I am convinced it will be a boy, so have bought a couple of pale blue pieces which can be teamed with pink if I turn out to be wrong...)
Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
I was given a brand new Jaeger jacket (it still had the labels on it)Perfect fit and colour. Priced it in a store at about £300 !
Was also given the remaining 3 hours of a stranger's car park ticket which I have kept as it makes me smile every time I look at it.
Free posh bread from Tesco's as I had a voucher for 40p off and it was reduced to 40p.0 -

A large scale toy tractor for free from the CS as it had a crack in it and they could not sell it because of this, although it was not a crack just a bit of plastic out of place that i fixed when i got in. A large A3 size book on dinosaurs for DS and a lovely DK encyclopedia, and a Hardback novel for me all for £1.25. Gotta love the CS!0

Great thread...love sharing the finds. I was dithering over buying my youngest a sewing basket for Christmas, but at £27.00 it was a bit exy...we had committed to buying her something else and this would make the Christmas shop very over budget. Last week hubby and I were in the CS and found a beautiful one, large and in stunning condition for £6.00! My daughter was thrilled and is a big CS fan too.0

I love freebies and bargains! Im a bit of a vulture if the truth be told. I used to drive tippers and id end up in landfills and hanging round skips, ive 'rescued' step ladders, fruit bowls, a massive white board which my 2 year old loves, alloy wheels for a bmw, waiting room chairs, an exercise mat, i could go on and on. I forage, freecycle, gumtree and freegal, im not shy to take things from my local dump and often find things that people have left by recycling banks, i recently got a wall mirror and a griddle pan both brand new from my local skip. Ive even been known to rumage through charity shop bins (i have to say i am horrified by the amount of stuff thrown out by them), i got a bunch of brand new kids books and a stainless steel tea set. My oh even brought me home a 19" flat screen monitor that he rescued from his work! I love jumble sales, table top sales, car boots, markets, charity shops and i will always head straight for the reduced section in whichever shop i am in. I do online freebies, product testing and competitions. Even beach-combing can be quite productive, i once found a memory card for my old camera washed up on a beach and it worked!! I rescue things from friends and relatives, most of my furniture has been donated and i even got a car from my bil which lasted 3 years! My local lidls will put the out of date items at the front of the shop for you to take which i'll freeze, even my local tesco reduces everything at a certain time every night and you can get a bag of potatoes for 10p etc, i even manged to get the magnetic pulse exercise bike id been eyeing up for ages reduced from £130 to £40 (infact i got it for nothing because i phoned up tesco clubcard and sorted out all my old clubcards, so i ended up with about £50 in vouchers, i know i should have traded them up but i couldnt really see anything id use them for). After xmas and valentines day etc they practically give stuff away, i recently bought 4 lovely porcalain mugs for £1 and a set of heart shaped cookie cutters for 25p, i also stocked up on craft items super cheap, 10p for bags of pompoms and foam shapes, my daughter loves these too!
My last freebie was a 500ml bottle of flash with febreeze from supersavvyme to 'test'. Dilute two or three caps in a big spray bottle and it cleans everything and lasts for AGES!! Im also waiting on my full size tester of ariel actilift to come through the post.
Happy hunting!!Never leave anywhere empty handed0 -
AntiLorna you are an inspiration:beer:
I can hardly believe what we are all finding:T:T:T
Beautiful things that often were just being chucked away:eek:
I am beginning to think 'Why would anyone want to buy things full price from the stores?
I just remembered that we picked up a very nice clothes airer recently, that needed minimal repair. It's so useful. Oh, and the computer chair from the municipal tip. The vases and glasses and play-mats and NEW duvet cover and pillows from a hotel upgrade. There's a whole winderful world out there of frugal finds to discover:D
I put winderful by mistake but I'm going to keep that word because it feels like winning a prize0
