Other than the sunshine, which enabled me to get 2 loads of washing dry this morning :D I found a sachet of net curtain whitener in the cupboard while having a clear out and have washed my living room nets. Thanks to the sun, they're already hung back up again!

Well I did not gain but someone else did and I am not sure why.

A old clothes prop that was no good and old broken rotary line that someone stole from garden :rotfl:

It was put out for the refuse collectors on friday right next to the bin but inside my fence (if that makes sense).

I have been meaning for days to get it back in put my green bin out tonight and it has gone some time since yesterday morning.

Any how I am getting a free single bed to go in the back bedroom tomorrow. Just need to get a bottle of drink for the delivery person.

    Yours

    That's a kind idea:A

I like water ices in this hotter weather but the cheap ones taste rather nasty. I heard that watermelon froze nicely and so gave it a try, just cut it up into chunks (seeds removed) and froze in a sandwich bag. Result! Tastes even better than the ones I've been buying and healthy as well which is always good, got a bagful from one melon.

    Evening all

Just spotted this thread and am loving it

I foten give things away to the charity shop and if I am lucky enough to get something from Freecycle I always take some of my rhubarb or herbs as a thank you.

Bits that have been super frugall for us (most of them thanks to my Mum..) were:

A free practically new Dyson - my Mum got it from the charity shop she volunteers at - there was a broken plastic part so they couldn't sell it on and were going to throw it . My Mum nabbed it for us, I gave a decent donation for it anyway and bought the broken bit off a dealer on eBay for £16 incl P&P. I then broke the same part a few weeks later so mended it with duck tape instead of buying another replacement part. It lasted us 5 years of pet hair and building work (3 sessions of knocking down walls and chimney breasts and the associated dust etc) before the motor packed up

Got a free compost tumbler from the tip a few years back

Tiles for the porch we had put up, off a kind Freecycler

From my Mum's house (she goes through spells of changing the decor in her house :undecided). Luckily we have the same tastes, lol:

    - All our bedding, and sometimes still get used once bits that she opens, washes, puts on the bed and decides she doesn't like!
    - Lino in our bathroom - like us they have small foot space in their bathroom and the width of the lino was twice the width they needed so we had the 'off cut' which fitted just lovely in ours!
    - Stairs carpet - they had it down for a month before she changed her mind about the 'pile' of it so guess where that ended up?
    - Our living room bay window thick cream cream coloured curtains
    - Our very thick, light brown bedroom curtains

It's only when I've written that down that I realise how fortunate I've been with bit's I've got and it's made me really appreciate what my folks give us...

Oh, and OH's folks gave us kitchen wares (pyrex bowls, some loevly crystal fruit / trifle bowls, etc) from the clearance of both their parent's houses when they passed away. They know I'm a lover of being in the kitchen so I was really pleased - a big bonus to being the daughter in law that they got on with (maybe the other DIL should take heed and try a little harder to get one with people... ... not that that's why I get one with them - I get on with them because I like them!)

15p in coppers that was left behind in the tray of the coin counting machine at my bank - it automatically counted through with my change and paid directly into my account - what's a girl to do?! ;)
