Yesterday I received a package from a charity thanking me for my support. I had never heard of these people. I can't even remember who they are now. Inside they enclosed a complementary battery-operated clock. It even has an alarm, and is keeping good time. If this charity can afford to send me this, they can't be that short of funds.

Received some books from a freecycler, which I will pass to a friend as a surprise and who is a bit skint.

Took my mum out for coffee today - another freebie, this time vouchers from Starbucks!

Looking forward to taking OH out for a meal when the Clubcard vouchers come in this month!

I'm very upset! I saw a wrought iron ladder backed chair at the bins in a block of flats near me but I was on my way to catch a bus for an appointment. I did think of quickly running back home with it but I was worried I'd be late, so I decided I'd see if it was still there when I got home. Of course, it wasn't!!
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.

Yesterday I went into the nearest city to us, and I went into The Works, which is a shop that sells remainder books, and also has an art section. Since I have an in-law who is an artist, I sometimes pick up some items to send her. One of the things I saw there was a plastic rack and pinion device which is an artists' paint-tube squeezer. Although it is obviously designed not to waste any cobalt blue gouache, I took one look at it and said to myself: "Toothpaste." It was reduced from £1.99 to £0.99. So I have got the thing in the bathroom. You can even hang it on the wall. How long it will last remains to be seen.

Today I bought a lovely dress in a CS for £6.99 - even better as I am plus size and only own a couple of dresses as even the expensive ones in the best of the high street shops normally look pretty awful on me (I'm just the wrong shape)! :o Also I already have sandals and bags that will go with it. :T

Took my mum for coffee and got our 5th stamp on the collectors card thingy so the next cuppa will be free!

Mum bought me 5 bottles of shower gel that were reduced and with her boots discounts (employee) cost her less than £1 for the lot! They will be 50/50'd with water in the (reused) kandoo containers as handwash!

    :D

  • Our local hotel recently threw out some duvets and pillows in amazing condition. What a blessing:T Anyway, they chucked out a pillow today because it had a small hole in one corner which looks like it happened in storage. It looks unused to me! Have just stitched up the hole and it's perfect.

Congratulations to you all on your frugal finds. Keep 'em coming.
