Hi all
My Samsung RSA1WTMH fridge freezer stopped working yesterday. I called samsung who informed me it was just out of warranty (its 2yrs 4mths old) they said they would send an engineer out who would fix it free of charge, IF it was due to one of six parts, this was as a goodwill gesture.
The engineer arrived this morning and informed me that the Compressor had gone and that it would be chargeable, around £300!! He advised me to ring samsung back and have a good moan, and hopefully they would come and fix it, free of charge.
I have just got off of the phone to Samsung, and the refuse point blank to fix it, as it is out of warranty.
Has anyone in this position had any luck with getting help from the shop they bought it, using the sale of good acts?
I bought mine from Dixons online store, I will get in touch and see what they say.0 -

I too have a fault with my Samsung Fridge Freezer RS21. Just paid £42.50 to an engineer to be told this is a common problem (buzzing noise and frosting up of fan in fridge thus fridge not working). Engineer has quoted £306.17 plus today's call out charge to repair. Tried to call Samsung - spoke to overseas call centre who said they could not deal with my call as they 'were experiencing upgrades' and they would call me back. Have you (or anyone) managed to get a contact name and number, email address or even customer service address to deal with before I start my never ending round of customer service fob offs with Samsung.0 -
We had this problem with ours back in 2009. As it was 7 months old, they came and repaired it, but it broke again, a couple of weeks later. Got absolutely nowhere with Samsung, who didn't appreciate that I couldn't accept a call-out whenever as I was already 2 days over my due date for 1st baby, so couldn't guarantee I'd be in, and they didn't appreciate that with a new baby going to be in the house at any time, we needed it to be working! In the end, went straight to Dixons, who organised a replacement for us. We had to wait a few days, and our DD had arrived before it was delivered. I actually took out the extended warranty last year, as worried about the same thing happening again.........0

We bought our RS21 in April 2008 as part of a new kitchen, so it wasn't actually installed until May 2009! In any event, it functioned perfectly until 3 weeks ago, when the problems described above occurred to ours also.
I have followed the advice others have kindly provided, and Samsung have agreed to fund the repair and an engineer should be 'phoning me in the next 44 hours.
I asked about the ultimate length of time these machines were expected to last, given others' reports above that they'll never work in the longer term. In response, Samsung said they would replace the model if it broke down 4 times (during the warranty period). I asked whether it would be possible to extend the warranty beyond the already extended deadline, which I believe for us is 2013, ie 5 years from date of purchase. Apparently all we have to do is return to where we first purchased the machine and arrange the warranty extension through them. we shall see. Meantime, I hope this is helpful to others.0 -
Hi
I bought a RS21 in May 2004, last week it started making a noise like a fan constantly buzzing away. I did a quick search and saw that this model had been the subject of a Watchdog report so contacted Samsung direct for some advice.
Sooo, on Tuesday I phoned them, on Thursday afternoon at 2pm I got a call to say the engineer was on his way, by 4pm the whole faulty unit had been replaced, the fridge was back to working order.
Wow that is what I call customer service and best of all it was FREE!0 -
Hi, can anyone help! we have the above fridge freezer, the warranty expired 2 months ago:mad:. A couple of weeks ago it started making a few strange noises and now we do not appear to be able to get any water, the ice compartment still works and the filter is ok.
Have had a look inside but cannot even see where the water comes in from, I assume it is in the door somewhere. Anyone got any bright ideas where we can start!!!!
Thanks0 -
The water, if memory serves me, goes into a tank then is drawn by water pressure to the dispenser on the door.
It is not unusual for the tank to freeze, break or get gunked up, especially if some of the cheap rubbish water filters are used. There's been more than a few reports of that recently and, to be honest, those of us in the trade are sick telling people that the cheapest filters aren't perhaps the best plan. I'm not saying that's your problem but we are seeing it on the increase and it's worth noting and also that buying them from people on Ebay that can disappear overnight is also not a good idea.

I noticed a rise in temperature in the refrigerator part of my Samsung RL41SBTB although the pump appeared to be working (I could hear the noise of the pump). The freezer still appeared to be freezing OK.
Phoned Samsung who suggested resetting the appliance by turning it off for a few hours.
Didn't work. On further investigation I found a massive ice build up at the bottom of the freezer which had blocked the vents. After thawing (which produced about a gallon of water) the problem appears to have been solved. Obviously Samsung know about this, hence the advice to 'reset' for a few hours which is code for 'allow the thing to thaw out'!0 -
I have had a Samsung RSH1DTSW fridge freezer since January 2008 which is now out of warranty. 2 days ago it started making a noise. Having looked at all the posts I checked and found the build up of ice mentioned so many times. I contacted Samsung customer services at 11am on 12/05/11 and explained the situation. The gentleman asked if our fridge had had the modification carried out yet, when I said no he informed me that they would replace 6 key component parts free of charge which should solve the problem. He advised a rep would contact me within 24hrs. At 4 pm the same day an engineer called to say he would be here sometime tomorrow. Having read all previous posts I cannot fault the service I have had from Samsung so far I will post tomorrow night with an update.0

We had problems with our 3 year old model brought from Comet after they installed a modification last year. Thats when the icing up started. Comet were rubbish but persistance with Samsung and 3 engineer visits to fit new parts and move sensors etc, has resulted in Samsung replacing for the new model. WE HAD OUR NEW MACHINE DELIVERED YESTERDAY BY SAMSUNG...... RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T GIVE IN IT TOOK QUITE SOME PHONE CALLS0
